Do many of you here have or have you handled a Timberwolf glock? What are your impressions or thoughts on them compared to the regular glock frames? Im interested in the compact frame in particular

I love mine. Feels  awesome and shoots great.

I built mine out of an extra G23 gen 3 I had

I've only put about 300 rds of .357 sig, and about 200 rds of .40. I Recently purchased a .40 to 9 and have only run about 50 rds through it.
Not a high enough round count for a protection firearm in my opinion.

No probs with .357
No probs with 9mm
I did have stove a pipe with .40 and recently some of my glock 23 mags that were left loaded were almost impossible to fit in the magwell

My conclusion would be to use you frame for 9mm.

I think Travis Haley uses a G17 Timberwolf. I've seen it on a few of his YouTube vids. I promise his round count I way more than mine

Love the full size frames. On the compact frame the rear corner of the mag kills my hand so I don't like it. Never a problem with the 4 I've had.

Yea... I love the idea... but no way I would trade the commonality of holsters. I'd cut and stipple myself before I went this route.

On that topic... Why in the hell they still stuck finger grooves on it!? Or why they don't have a 17 chopped to a 19 size frame!? Or as above, why they didn't leave the same trigger guard shape in so most holsters would still work?

Seems like a wasted opportunity to me.

I was under the impression that it still fit all the same holsters and that the only difference in trigger guard is the timberwolf being rounded

Here's a couple decent videos on the Timberwolf frames.

I really don't care for Glocks but I understand their usefulness. Therefore I built a Timberwolf with as few Glock parts as possible.

It fits all of the G17 holsters I've tried like they were built for it.

Timberwolf frame, LW slide cerakoted, Storm Lake barrel, Dawson precision sights.

I bought the plastic magwell for it but with my big palms it doesn't seem to fit well. I'll have to shoot with it some more in a match or something.

First time I shot it there were some failures to go into battery, but after a good cleaning and oiling it hasn't given me a single issue even shooting dry in about 500 rounds.

Do any of you guys have an issue with your mag release not having enough tension?  I'm going to ask LWD, but I wonder if I just need to replace either the release or the spring, it's dropped a mag on me before when firing and my support hand taps it.

Or, when you've racked the slide, if you push down on the barrel hood does it slip down about .5-1mm?  I'm using a LWD 17 slide, cerakoted black.

Those are the two issues I have on mine other than the fit not being very tight.  Well, that and the TFO sights I bought for it have a big gap on the bottom of the rear sight.  And, double checking, I did buy the right ones.

No issues like that here. Mag lock-up is fine. I'm not 100% sure with you mean with the barrel hood but I'm not having any issues like that as far as I can tell.

As far as not being very tight, mine is no more or less than any Glock. It does have a bit of the "gator mouth" on the dust cover.

I've been pretty happy with it.

The barrel is a LWD threaded, I didn't mention that in my last post.  I didn't really know the standard name for it, but by barrel hood I mean where the round is chambered.  When the slide is forward if I touch this part it drops down.  I've never done it with a round in the chamber, I'll have to put in a dummy round when I get home and see if it does it, and if it affects where the striker hits the primer.  I have the gator mouth thing a little bit too, which I've read had something to do with the way they're made, but the movement is about twice as much as my G19.  I don't have a factory 17 to compare it to, so it may be nothing to worry about.

I did just get a gen 4 17 magazine yesterday, I'll have to try that out to see if I have the same issues with the mag release.  The gen 3 mags I was using have a little bit of chewing on them at the notch.

The 19-sized frame being done means the 21/20 is probably next.

I probably won't build a 19-sized but would probably build a 20.

Raven VG2 and Eidelon both grab at the trigger guard. Might work, might wobble. I'd want to know before switching frames.

But really... I see no point in a replacment frame that has texture similar to Glock's and still has finger grooves. They really really missed the boat here.

It's the backstrap options, I have mine with the 1911 strap, but the gen 4 17 and 19 both fit my hand just fine, gen 3 for some reason never felt comfortable.

Ah yea. Makes sense... I still think they still messed up on the grooves tho.

I see both sides of the argument, but to me they're not bad. I do wish there was an option without.

I wonder if they help with frame rigidity?
