I am a right hand shooter, Gen 4 G-19 is my carry. Is there any advantage of switching the mag release to the right side vs the Left? I have trained to pull it close to me, drop it with my thumb
grab it, the install new mag.

Thoughts?

No.

If you train to engage the mag release with your thumb, it would not make any sense to swap the mag release to the right side of the gun

Absolutely. One finger operates both controls (trigger and mag release). I've never found a handgun yet where it's easier to drop the mag with my thumb versus using my trigger finger. Switch it over and find the advantage we lefties have had since mag releases were invented.

Pokey has a point ( forgive the pun!) I agree the mag release would make more sense in a location where you would not have to shift your grip for a mag change - and unless you have gorilla hands using a trigger finger like I do lefty is easier.

What kind of contortionist do you have to be to hit the mag release with your trigger finger? I can't even put my trigger finger on the mag release.
