[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Banned At GlockTalk (Page 1 of 2)
Posted: 3/22/2005 2:48:45 AM EDT
| I recently found Glocktalk forum and decided to register incase I wanted to post a message. When I went to register it said the admids have banned my IP Address! How can I be banned when I've never have posted there? Anybody else have this problem? |
Although it is a very active forum, and there are a handful of knowledgeable guys, there is a lot of BS. I also think the guy who runs it is a dick. Post over here and dont lose any sleep over it. |
Why are you complaining, here ?why dont you ask them why you got banned . I've said some crazy shit over there but never got banned , that place is a good web site I like it ... Good luck ... |
Yes, they are banning all new users so Walter cant sneak in under the radar |
I'm not banned but I have not been "authorized" to post in about a month. I have emailed them 1/2 a dozen times but never received a reply. |

Eric, who owns GT, has had a lot of health problems over the past couple of years. The kind of health problems he's suffered frequently result in an intolerance for conflict. I don't have any desire to "slip in under the radar," although some of the dolts posting over there now really could use a boatload of Solomon Juice. There's a near-illiterate whose only subject matter has been the Atlanta courthouse shooter case. He's got to be the all-time stupidest human being ever to stroke a keyboard. He's almost as stupid as the guy who has been banned from several boards for posting irresponsible, irrelevant, unsafe reloading info. Guy is absolutely too stupid to figure out why he was banned or why his reloading info is irrelevant. |
B.S. What this is doing in a thread about banning at GT I dont know BUT.. As for home schooling, I know several families who home school thier kids, and those kids are no dummies. They Test every year using the same test that are used in public schools, and they pass. These kids also reach the 12th grade high school level at least 2 years earlier, and test to show it. They are well adjusted and social kids, who get along great with kids who go to public schools. They have great work ethics, and are responsable, the parents of these kids are dedicated to giving thier children the best education they can get. Home schoolers are networked across this country. It is not a free for all, go do what you want during the day, school starts at 8m and stops at 3pm, they have recess and lunch breaks. Sadly there are some parents who abuse the system of home schooling, BUT you see that in the public school system as well. AA couple of the resons for home schooling, is the kids can get the 1 on 1 attention, that can help with eductaion, as well as the cirriculum contains a families relgious beliefs in science and history. Not available in public schols where evolution may be the only option givin in a science class. |

Just a wild guess, but I think the home schooling in this thread was a non sequitur response to my response about why I got banned from GT. Since Eric, the board's owner, never notified me that I was banned, I really don't know why I was banned, other than my sometimes-acerbic responses to a certain class of dolts. Although I wasn't home schooled and wouldn't try it with my kids, I learned more from my father about many subjects than I did in school. My father, BTW, was a h.s. principal, then a Superior Court Judge. I'd have considered my father to have been a lot more qualified at home schooling than religious fanatics who want to shield their children from reality. I consider private school to be preferential to home schooling, should public schooling not be desirable. I'm keenly aware that many home schoolers do well on tests. I'm of the opinion that there's a lot more to education than just being able to pass tests. |
| I just signed up over there about a month ago and it's...crap. There's not much going on there that I'm interested in. I check in every now and again but I don't have any interest in 99% of the posts. And the threads I AM interested in don't have much traffic. After a couple of weeks there may be 1 or 2 posts in a thread I'm interested in. Conversely AR15.com is the bomb. It's not as Glock intensive but there is more lively conversation of a higher level education base of firearms in general here. Simply put, there's more to learn here. |
If the wrong l.e.o. happens to click on GT and notices Eric's "fundraiser" (read internet lottery operation), Eric'll have a lot more to worry about than what you and I might have posted on GT. |
That just won't fly. Standardized test are the reason for being these days. My wife is a third grade teachers (since mid 70s). She has refused to "teach the test" but has had numerous veiled hints from the admin. "No Child Left Behind" is a farce. The "Alabama Reading Initiative" is a damn good program. We will not get education back until the states collectively tell Washington ed. bureaucrats to take the money and stuff it up their ass. Sorry Walter, you just won't cut it in ed with that attitude. |
While you went off on an education rant-BTW I agree with your point-you missed Walter's point about socialization. |
|
I've been banned there and i re-registered recently to buy something on their for-sale board. I have this little program that falsifies my IP address, so i turned it on and registered. they think i'm registered in indonesia or something. I've got all of 2 posts, one buying an item and the other thanking the guy for it's speedy delivery, otherwise i'm not interested in participating in their BS. |

Just to clarify my opinion of homeschooling: I don't care what somebody else does with their kids. Education means different things to different people. Three of my kids graduated from public high schools; one from a private h.s. They're all doing well. I'd be the first to acknowledge that I'm not competent to teach my kids. I've also reviewed the Abecca (sp?) material that's used by many homeschoolers, and I found it to be grossly inadequate, with Bible verses thrown in with math problems; with the Earth's age stated as 6000 yrs. or so as a fact; that dinosaurs and humans coexisted; with fossil fuels explained away as having been created virtually overnight by the weight of the water of the Great Flood, etc, etc., ad infinitum. My father was "homeschooled" in law, but he also attended public schools. He was also a rare exception. My grandfather had my father studying law at home when my father was 12-yrs-old. By 16, my father was working part-time in his oldest brother's law firm, briefing cases for appeals work. @ 21, having attended no law school, my father took the Bar exam, passing it in about 1/2 the allocated time. He was later the youngest Superior Court Judge in the U.S., and his reversal rate was the lowest of any other GA Superior Court Judge. At the time of his retirement, he was the longest-tenured and probably best-known Superior Court Judge in GA. |
"Acting like a jerk," of course, is subjective. Take a look at some of the threads going on over there now. There are some folks who are a lot bigger jerks than I who are still posting. Sometimes, "acting like a jerk" just means that some dolt who was posting on subjects about which he knew little-to-nothing got corrected. What I mean by not knowing why I got banned is that Eric never notified me as to the reason for my banning. I suspect that a one-line, accurate post that I made in a thread about homeschooling was the catalyst, but I really don't know. If you'd like to enter into a dialogue with me about any subject, I'd be happy to accommodate you, in my usual intelligent, cogent manner. |
Walter. That's a badge of honor, wear it proudly. They should get you a big trophy cup that says "Most Bitched About Member; Glocktalk; 2005" |
Why's that? Because of the "lottery" or the guns. I never really thought about it. |

I'm someone Eric dispised and I have to stick up for Walter on this one. He stated his opinions and did not lie or hide from the facts. If he had facts he provided links etc to back them up usually. He was not a cop basher and he gave some rock solid advice. I was banned because Eric told me I was taking away interest from the regular discussions on glock talk. That place needs someone fun there again. But he hates me and when I tried to come back everyone turned me in and I was banned again. |
XM just e-mail Eric to sort it out if you want to register. I believe the above answers your question. |
Yea I tried to e-mail Eric a couple of times but he didn't respond. The heck with them. I'll just stay here and hang out with you bums! Thanks for the reply's guys. Nick |
We're not so bad.
