Long story short...bought new G42 saturday for the wife.  Get it home start dry firing.  I notice that quite often the trigger does not reset and i have to rack the slide multiple times to get it back.  I read online where several people had this issue and i see that glock released upgrades.  My G42 has all the upgrades.  I then notice that this issue is very prominent when i point the weapon straight up.  I have a feeling that cleaning the bronze lube out of the gun may help but i thought i would ask you guys before i do anything in case i need to send it in.  The gun has not been shot or cleaned yet.  Is this something that is common and goes away or does it need to go back.  I looked all over for the answer but found nothing.  Thanks for all the help

Edited for clarity

All Glock triggers stay back until you rack the slide.

Well now that it says you have to rack it multiple times I get it. At first I was confused how it was sometimes resetting itself without racking heh. If it were mine I'd take it apart (YouTube for instructions), and reassemble it. I never heard of that issue though.

Just for clarification i wasnt trying to be hateful...i thought you first reply was pretty funny.  After i read my OP i realized how dumb i sounded.  I also found that there was another post about the same problem but no real solution.  Hopefully this isnt something that has started with the newer productions.  Ive never had to send a gun back and i hope i dont have to start now.

Take the slide off and look to make sure the cruciform is hooked under the trigger spring like this.

If it is laying on top it won't reset reliably.  Sitting on top it looks like this.

Mine is identical to the top picture

Hmmm.  The pics were taken of a pistol which had the same issue but correcting the cruciform/trigger spring took care of it.  I'm not sure what else to look for at this point.  I'd shoot it before deciding if it needs to go back, may straighten out after a few mags are run through it.

Yeah...im gonna hit the range this weekend and im really hoping that the bronze "break in" lube that glock applies from the factory is what is causing the trigger bar to get hung up.  I plan to run 100 rds through it before cleaning and then 100 after cleaning.  I will report back with my results.  I have read that others have had this issue.  Some say it goes away after a break in some say they can only recreate it while dry firing.  I guess we will see.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Make sure you get some lube on that connector (the most important drop).

I had the exact same problem... I think it would happen about 1 time in 12 while dry-firing. I spoke with a tech at Smyrna who told me the problem wouldn't happen when I was shooting the pistol. He indicated the abnormality is caused by the insufficient energy of racking the slide by hand. The guy also mentioned that the pistol prefers a *snappier* ammo  (at least 90 grn), and has a "break-in" period of several hundred rounds. I was suspect of this, but it does seem to be the case. I have about 450 rds through mine, and it went from a 6% failure rate initially (FTF, FTE, trigger reset), down to less than 2% now. I understand that a lot of people wouldn't accept even a 2% failure rate, but I figure the thing goes bang way more than it doesn't.   Just my .02

After a good cleaning and 200 rds down the pipe, the problem has completely vanished.  I would have to say the info in the previous post is correct.  I was not able to duplicate the issue at all while firing.  I could only get it to happen when the handgun was dry.  Kinda weird but I had zero malfunctions at all in 200 rds.

I've drawn the conclusion the 42 is just a strange pistol. Very quirky indeed.

We just picked up one for the wife and rand 250 round of tula through it and 50 rounds of winchester self defense and the 50 SD rounds felt solid compared to the weaker tula.   That said, not one failure to fire, eject or feed.

Halfway considdering one for myself.
