I will be getting one of these soon. Looking to use it for IDPA Competition and as an alternate CCW weapon to my SIG P239 .40. I have shot the 26 and like it a great deal. I will shoot the 19 in the coming week or two. Probably will end up getting both at some point of course - but which should I get first?

Here's my take on the G19 vs G26 debate. First off, I think everyone should have both I believe the 26 is best for ultra concealment in a pocket or an ankle holster period. The minute you strap on a pinky extender or one of those god awful ugly things that combines a grip extender with the G19 mag, you've defeated its purpose. I have found that I dont like carrying the 26 in a waistband holster as it doesn't give me sufficient enough of a grip to grab onto even with my small hands. It's almost like grabbing for a derringer. If I need to draw quickly, I want something I can locate, and grab onto quickly and positively. This is where I feel the G19 is better although if you want to get real technical, yes it prints slightly more for concealment, mainly in the grip area. Again, you slap the grip extender and pinky extenders on the 26, and you may as well have the G19 and get the full 4 inch barrel for added velocity, longer sight radius and 15 shot mag capability. The G26 can do everything the G19 does, however my vote goes to the G19 for the above reasons. |
| If you want to shoot IDPA then I'd go with the G19. The 19 still has the normal size gun feel but is small enought to easily conceal. If you were looking for deep concealment only I'd say go with the 26 but since you plan on doing more with it I vote for the G19 as it seems to do everything extremely well. |

I would say the 26. I have both a 23 and a 27 and I find that the target sights that came stock on the 27 afford me a much better sight picture than the meprolight night sites that came stock on the 23. Also believe it or not I'm a more accurate shot with the 27 than the 23. Maybe its because I HAVE to concentrate harder with the small grip, or maybe its all the sight picture of the target sights. YMMV Steve L. |
| I had all three. When I got the 26, the 19 started collecting dust. I carry it in a belly band or a mike's belt slide. With the pinky extender, the 'speed rock' is no problem. The gun is shorter than a 19, which makes it easier to carry, sit in a car, etc. However, you would be at a huge disadvantage at IDPA. Use a 17 for that. |

rent both. i tried out the g19 at my local range and it was a dream shooter in my hands. i haven't tried its smaller brother, so i can't give you any opinion on that. the g19 is the perfect size for ccw and pictures can be deceiving until you hold one in your hand. enjoy your purchase with whatever model you decide upon. glock is a great manufacturer. |
