| Whats the story on Federal barrels? They are 1/3 cheeper than anyone else. Are they a good deal or are they crap? |
I have heard mixed reviews on them. They certainly have gone up in price from years ago, LWD is getting 89.95 for them! I think replacing a Glock factory barrel with one would be a serious downgrade. If I needed an aftermarket barrel, I would spend a few more buck and at least get the LWD "house brand" barrel before buying a Federal arms. |

The only Federal barrel I own is an extended, ported .400 Cor-Bon conversion barrel for my G30. The first such barrel that I bought was part of a batch that came with the barrel hood cut too narrow. Over a year after the purchase, I checked back with Lonewolf and they replaced the barrel with one from a different batch. Dropped in; fits perfectly, works fine. Per Brian, if I weren't shooting lead, I'd stick with the Glock factory barrel. That sounds like I'm shooting lead. hmmm. I'm not shooting lead; just got the Federal so I could shoot .400 Cor-Bon through the G30. Also, I picked up a 9mm Lonewolf conversion barrel for a friend's G22. It also dropped right in and works great, using G17 mags. |
Walter, does your friend swap extractors as well or no? If the .40 extractor works I'd rather just order an extra OEM G22 LCI part as a spare, vs swapping a 9mm every time. |
