The 23 has been my issued firearm for over 13 years. I qualify with it well but I don't like shooting it.  It's like a damn hand cannon. I have a Sig 226 in .40 and love shooting it. I love shooting my 1911's as well.

Question is, how does recoil on a 21 compare to the 23? I would guess it would be less "snappy" than the 23. I am not a snob to any brand or caliber, I just don't understand the hate some have.

So if guys could give their observations on the comparison between the two. Not really interested in the 22, would rather move to a 21 or 41 if I'm going to purchase a full size. Would consider a 17 as well.

The use will be mainly a range toy with the possibility of duty use when I move out of plainclothes assignment.  I have considered a 17 or 34 purchase now, and move into a 21/41 later.

Main thing for now is I leave my Glocks (23,27,19) at home when I go to the range. I need to shoot them more, but not a fan of the smaller frame and recoil of .40 in the Glocks.

With the Walther, new Sig and new HK, I am being drawn in that direction also.

I forgot to add, when I switched from gen 3 to gen 4, I like the 23 much more. The larger beavertail really allows me a better grip. All purchases going forward will be gen 4's.

I love my Gen 2, G23.

I reload my own and make powderpuff loads that don't snap as much, but have the same POI.

Dept prolly wont let you use reloads I suspect.

I'm issued a 23 as well. I no longer own a 21 but remember it being a very smooth shooter, not the snap of the 40. I don't think you'd go wrong with a 21 or a 41. I will say I'm a 9 guy and would do a 17 or 34 before the 45s though, but that's me.

My G21 has much less felt recoil and muzzle flip than my Glock 23.

Ive heard the Gen4 Glock 22 is a better option for those that must carry a .40

Reading a bit about the 21 and 41, I see trigger pulls around 7lb's. This common?

That dual coil RSA makes quite a bit of difference as well IMO.

The 21 is a super soft shooter. Best 45 out there in my opinion

I have to carry a Gen4 G22. It is a significant upgrade from the Gen3 I previously used and I actually enjoy shooting it. If I had a choice though it would be a 21 or 41.

The Gen4 Glocks actually make the 40S&W enjoyable to shoot. One of my new favorites is the Glock 30S

I need to find a rental G4 in 21 and 41 to shoot.  I really like the feel of the M&P series, and own one in 9mm, but the factory trigger is a huge fail.

The 34 is a great companion to a 19, start buying all G17 mags for both guns. And you'll really notice the difference in the sight radius. The 41 will fit in most open top holsters for the other Glocks you already have. Thumbstraps or roll tops won't close over the 41, but I can stick mine in my other holsters as long as it will allow the slide to poke out the bottom. The 21 would require all new holsters for sure.

I like the way Gen 4's feel but seems the triggers are heavier? I have limited experience though.

My 23 is a Gen4 and it is "snappy" but I have learned to live with it, my 21SF is a gen3 and I love it is very accurate and eats all ammo, my only complaint would be that the grip is too big for my small hands and when shooting in typical FL weather it gets hard to hold on to. It will be leaving in a few weeks for a grip reduction and a better stippling. With all that said my 34 is by far the most fun at the range!

I too carry a gen 4 23 as my EDC and really enjoy it.

A few weeks ago I went to the range with a friend to try out his new 41.  He also brought along his gen 4 21.  Using 230 ball ammo in both guns.

I tried the 41 and then switched over to the 21.  Then back to the 41.  Then back to the 21.  Then the 21 again.  And again.  And again . . . . . I must have went thru a couple hundred rounds.

I really enjoyed shooting the gen 4 21 the most.  So much so I think Im going to ask Santa for one.

Also have a gen 4 17.  Really sweet Glock - but you really need to try out a gen 4 21.

Just my 2 cents . . . . . . .

Why the 21 over the 41? Shoot softer?

Hello RightSide,

Yes -- the model 21 is a real soft shooter.  Outshot my M&P 45 full size with the 21.

Don't tell anyone I said that  . . . .
