well i took the plunge and got me a g17. i went to get the O.D. frame g17 but was $30 more and came with two nuetered 10 rd mags. the all black which followed me home came with the two 17 rnd mags. i was not too sure i liked the o.d. frame but it was kind of growing on me, but i settled for the all black. now i need to pick up some ammo and run her through the paces.  how many of you guys carry a g 17 for ccw. i know the 19 would be a better choice for ccw but i wanted a 17. if so what kind of holsters are you guys using? i need to get some ideas so i can try some out and find out what fits. i may have to retire the sig220. thanks

Congratulations on the G17 my friend

I have one and I absolutely love it!  Pick yourself up a case of WWB and have at it.  My G17 was a little tight initially and needed 1000 rounds to break in.  I had a stovepipe on round 1 and again around round 500.  Since then she's gone 2500+ rounds without a hitch and has been through a class at Blackwater.

I usually carry a G19 as a CCW but I've carryed my G17 occasionally in an OWB holster wearing a jacket over it.  For my G17 I only have one holster and that is the Blackhawk CQC with SERPA.  I like the holster so much I decided to buy one for my Kimber and another for my G19.  The SERPA system takes a little getting used to but it is sweet once you spend a little time with it.

Here's a link to the CQC holsters on EE: Blackhawk CQC

Be sure to pick up some more magazines too.  I generally keep 4 of the old 10 rounders on hand too and I use those for practice, IDPA and reload drills since they are always getting stepped on and what not.

Uncle Mike's nylon belt slide.  Cheap, universal.  The one I use the most, beside a belly band.

Good choice. My first and favorite Glock. I'm heading to Bass Pro tomorrow to pick up 1000 rounds @4.88 per box. Can't beat feeding the Glock for so cheap.

Wish .45 was so inexpensive.

I passed up an OD green G22 for an all Black G17 at Oshman's today.  They had both, it was a hard decision, but I went in set on a G17, hope I made the right choice.  Of course, in time I'll get the ODG G22

btw, should I field strip it and clean it with CLP before I start shooting.  I know with AR's you should always clean them if they're from the factory.

The manual says to field strip and clean but do not remove the copper color lube as this will help the pistol break in better. i am very pleased with it. i took it out yesterday and ran 100 rnds through her. not one single problem and accuracy was ammazing. hope you enjoy yours as much as i enjoy mine.
