Has anybody noticed any significant accuracy difference with a backstrap change on your Gen4?

I have a maybe a few k through my Gen 4's but at the range I've used no backstrap.

I plan to experiment soon.

The only way changing, adding, or removing backstraps could have any affect on accuracy is if it makes your grip better or worse. I have fairly large hands, so I love the large backstrap. Gives me enough room on the offhand side the gun to get a lot of offhand palm on there. (Thumbs forwards grip.)

Yeah, definitely the grip. I have been shooting my Gen3 17 against the Gen4 17 with no backstrap and its really the same in regards to accuracy. I'm going to guess that the large backstrap on the Gen 4 will do little that I can tell in regards to accuracy.

If you shoot it fine with no backstrap, I doubt a larger one would help you. For me it feels nicer because of having bigger hands, but if that isn't an issue for you, it probably won't do anything for you.

I have average sized hands.  L gloves are usually tight and XL are pretty loose.

On my G21 I found something kind of surprising.  When I first got it, I shot is quite a bit with out any backstrap. I thought it felt better. When I'd fire from the draw occasionally it would feel my grip wasn't quite right and the target would show it too.

I then started to experiment with the backstraps.  I eventually found out that with  the large backstap on the 21 would place my hand more consistently on the grip - my knuckles right across the front of the backstrap.  Also in extended strings of shooting during 3 gun and practical pistol competitions,  the gun had less of a tendency to (for the lack of  a better term) bounce around in my hand.

For 3 gun I use my G17.  I found the same thing with the backstraps.

Although it may seem counter intuitive for a person with average sized hands, the large backstraps work better for me.

All you just said is basically my exact findings between gen 3 and 4 with large backstrap.

When all I had was my Gen 3 G19, I thought the grip was just fine for me... After getting a Gen 4 and using a large backstrap, I quickly realized how much nicer is was to have more space on the grip side panel for my off hand. Overall, my grip is way better feeling on the Gen 4 with large backstrap than 3.

Very interesting fellas. These are just the points that I was running through my little pea brain.

I have small hands.  I thought that I would love the Gen4 Model 22 without a backstrap.

Nope.  My groups were largest with no backstrap.  The medium backstrap (the same as a Gen3) tightened things up noticeably.  The large backstrap tightened things up just a little more.  I am a little more consistent with the large over the medium. I ascribe it to the large backstrap making me use a consistent grip.

Shot yesterday and just wasn't happy, came home last night and messed around with the back straps and it's a lot more comfortable. Can't wait to shoot again now.

I suspect there's probably a lot of Gen 4 owners out there that that get their gun and don't experiment with the backstraps at all. They just decide it feels good with no backstrap and don't think twice about it not knowing what they're missing out on.

I've swapped them around and honestly didn't really notice a difference. I have medium-small hands, and no backstrap lets me operate the controls much easier.

I generally try not reccommend things to other people however, not just on general principles but also the fact that I'm just a weird guy. For example I hate hate hate the grip force adapter, even though about 98% of people who try it love it to death.

You're probably on to something there.

The target and timer made my decision, not what I thought I liked.

Hell, I almost feel victim to it myself.
When I first got my Gen 4 34 home it felt fine. I wasn't going to even mess with the backstraps. The next day I thought "hell, why not?" and discovered how much I prefer the large backstrap to none. After shooting it, it was enough to make me sell my first Glock love, my Gen 3 19 to buy a Gen 4 19.

I have the full beaver tail on my 17 and the small beaver tail on my 21. They are the most accurate setup for me since it keeps the 'right' part of my finger on the trigger
