Question,
I sold all my 45cal handguns had a G21 & G36.
Just looked at a New G41 45cal almost drop the hammer BUT had a second thought do I really need a 45cal.
I been using G19 9mm, G27 40cal my carry gun and my G35 while hunting here in Wyoming Buffalo Bullets.
I like 45cal BUT do I need one, is there any real advantage over my 40cals.to justify putting out more dollars for another caliber.
While hiking I carry a 12ga custom slug gun with a 14in barrel in my pack along with my G35.
I carried a Colt Government model for over 35 years and when I decided I wanted a Glock I chose the 35 in 40cal and to me found that with the right bullet hard cast out of a KKM barrel I didn't think that I needed a 45cal anymore.
For those who use a 40cal what do you think.
Thanks Jack

I just bought my G41.  The gun is very nice and a bit larger then my G35 in the grip area.  I did not put any of the back strap pieces on it and it feels good.  While it does have more recoil, it feels less snappy.  I am able to get back on target faster with my G41.  I am debating about getting rid of my G35 (G27, G22, G23) but I have the rest of the family (except G24), so its hard to break it up.  I am going to start reload 45 again.

I always felt more comfortable reloading .45 than .40s. If I wanted to shoot ipsc major, I would buy a G41

I have both.  The Glock 35 in my opinion is the better option for your needs.  But, you don't have a G41 so that in itself justifies the purchase.

would a 10mm or a .460 Roland conversion better serve your need?  a friend carries a Roland when he is elk hunting in Colorado

I would suggest keeping the 35.  The 41 is a somewhat cool concept except there isn't much aftermarket support yet for it.  Glock decided on the thin slide (like the 30S/36) which means the barrel dimensions are different as well, but really I don't see the .45 giving you anything the .40 isn't already, not to mention the G41 has a bigger grip and holds less ammo.  The G35 is capable of more than what many people give it credit for, it's really a very good choice for a hunting/woods Glock.  Many don't seem to realize that with a longer barrel and slower burning powder that the .40 is capable of some very good velocities.
From my stock Glock 35 using Longshot, it's not a problem to get a 180gr JHP or hardcast bullet to over 1,270 fps, even closing in on 1,300 fps which is square in 10mm territory.  Drop a longer G24 6" barrel in it, and one with good support like a KKM and you'll pass 1,350 fps with a 180gr.  I use a KKM G24 barrel in my G35 for warm loads and today I clocked a handload using 800x at 1,278 fps average, and that was with a 200gr WFNGC hardcast, which is another reason I like the .40 so much, you can load it down to be a pea shooter, or you can load it within 90% of what a 10mm will do ballistic wise, and everything a 10mm will do in terms of killing.
But even with factory ammo and ammo from the likes of Buffalo Bore, Underwood or even DoubleTap, you've got more than enough for a backup gun, or even as a solid option for hunting with a Glock.  I love the .45 cal, the 35 really is a very versatile weapon for a lot of situations.

I have a similar dilemma.  I love my G35 but I have sold all my other .40 cal Glocks.  I have mostly .45 and 9mm stuff now.  So my issue is do I get a 9mm conversion barrel and mags or do I sell my G35 and get the G41.  I mostly shoot my G21 so I am leaning towards selling the G35.  Good thing my buddy wants to buy the G35 so I can still shoot it if I wanted to.  There is good advise from the above posters that just made my decision harder!
