Nice work, but why didn't you cut the whole grip? You have a G19 magazine, but the pistol will still print like a G17. I may be wrong, but my guess is so that the magazine base would sit recessed in the grip rather than sticking out the bottom like a normal 19 does (comparrison pic). It looks cleaner that way to me. OP, like it. You made it look like it came that way! I see lots of transfermations on here that look good. Make me wish I had the nerve to start cutting away at mine sometime. |

Yeah, I get that. It does look very nice. However, the point of chopping a 17 is to get a pistol with a shorter grip. He now has less capacity with the same length grip. |

Quoted: It actually doesn't print like a stock G17. Since the whole grip was chopped, and not just a mag base slot. Here's a look of the chopped grip with the medium backstrap added to the back. This shows how much of the grip was chopped, in addition to the backstrap area. Also, the stock G17, the mag base overhangs on the bottom of the grip frame, therefore there's even an added length to the stock G17. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e121/fourstardrift/Guns%20stuff/7E3D4A38-86C5-41F0-920A-2F67DA2062CF_zpsfm2se1dt.jpg Quoted: Quoted: Nice work, but why didn't you cut the whole grip? I still would have chopped it all the way down myself. |

Yes, it would work, 17L/24 slide will work on a 17's frame. Quoted:

Nice looking polymer-surgery. Now go get a 17L slide for it and truly have a 19L. Not compatible. Yes, it would work, 17L/24 slide will work on a 17's frame. There aren't any gen 4 17L's are there? A gen 3 slide would technically work, but it's ugly. |

If it makes you happy, dude. This is one modification I'm not a big fan of and personally don't really see the point, but hey, it's your gun so keep on keepin' on. Really? I think it's pretty functional. You retain the sight radius while making it easier to conceal. That being said, I'm partial to a 19 chopped to 26 dimensions. |

I can shoot them all with comparable accuracy to the other. While the extra half inch of sight radius may make the gun more accurate in theory, practically there is just not much difference to me. I'd rather have a stock 19 then get after a 17 with dremels and files, but once again, it ain't my gun, and ain't my money, |

Here's the G19L hanging out with the bigger G17 SBR. http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss343/urbanguerillaclothing/UGC_G17-SBR-and-G19L.jpg What kit is that with the G17 to make it SBR? |

I'd rather have a stock 19 then get after a 17 with dremels and files, but once again, it ain't my gun, and ain't my money, I can shoot them all equally when I'm shooting slowly and trying to shoot tiny (well, not as large) groups, but when I start shooting fast such as IDPA/USPSA or practicing for self defense, I find that I make better hits in less time with the longer sight radius. When I'm pushing to go fast and my sight picture might not be just perfect, the longer sight radius is more forgiving in my experience. |
| I didn't have the heart to cut a Glock frame so I put a 34 upper on one of my 19 lowers and now have a 19XL. Nice job man. Never will be a fan of the Gen 4's but that's just personal . The Gen 3 grip feels like it was made for my hands. I did mine simply to make it easier to carry a 34 IWB concealed. |
|
Thanks all.
