| I am looking in to buying my first pistol, I have several rifles and have shot all sorts of pistols and have narrowed my search to the Glock 17. I like the way it shoots, the simplicity, durability and how it fits in my hand compared to other model Glock pistols. Now is the main concern, where do I buy it? I don't mind buying used, as long as the product has a good description, pictures, and the seller answers questions well. I also want to get a gen 3 or a new Gen 4 due to the issues of the gen 4 when it was released. Where could I find a good buy that's under $500, or what is a different pistol that is cheaper and you would suggest? |

My dealer got me a glock for 490 with tax included. This will be the last gun I buy through a dealer though, as I am getting my own FFL. That's a good deal, he probably only made about $20 on the sale. Once you get your own FFL you'll discover that Glock has a Minimum Advertised Price policy...........dealers are prohibited from advertising Glocks for less than MAP. This MAP policy covers price tags, % off sales, even "free box of ammo" promotions. For example, G17,19,23,22 gen3 MAP is $499. If Glock catches you advertising for less than MAP they will tell your distributor to not sell to you anymore. Oh, and in before a cop starts yapping about " I only paid $398 for my Glock".............we know its the First Responder discount and only available from a Glock LE dealer. An officer buying from his LGS doesn't get that. Every gun show I have three to four cops try to get me to match the Glock LE discount. When I tell them it's $40 below my dealer cost they look and tell me "Well, GT Distributors has them for $398"...........then go buy one at GT and wait three months for it to arrive. |
