I picked this early 2nd gen G19 up a few weeks ago and somehow I missed this when I went through the gun initially inspecting it. The notch in the slide for the release/lock function looks strange. On my other Glocks the notch is cut at about 90 degrees and finished; on this Glock it looks like it was cut/filed at various angles and it is lacking finish. The slide locks back fine both manually and after the last round is fired.

I have three other Glocks and none of their slide lock/release notches look like this. I wonder if a previous owner took a file to the notch (why would someone do this?). If you look at the other side of the slide directly opposite the notch you'll see what looks like a slight buff/file mark, almost like the persons hand slipped with the file.

However, this G19 is the earliest production Glock I own - it is from late 1991 and has the old non-upgraded black parts, so I was thinking perhaps something in Glocks production was different back then with regard to how they machined/finished the notch.

Anyone able to shed some light on this? Thanks

Any chance that's wear from releasing the slide via the slide stop lever vs sling shotting it?

^ yep that's what it looks like...

The wear would be on the other side of the corner if someone filed it deeper...
