How does the G23 with removed finger groves compare to the 2nd Gen G19 you just picked up???

I love the 2nd Gen frame... and with all these threads of people looking for one, do you feel removing the finger grooves is a satisfactory option??

(...not that I'd ever find the cahones to do so. )

For a year I carried and trained with a G17 gen 3 that I milled the finger grooves off and made psuedo-Gen2 grenade checkering.  It felt like my G19Gen2, but a little grippier. I hated finger grooves at first, until I started undercutting the triggerguard and suddenly the finger grooves fit my fingers well enough.

The 19 has a "thinner" feel to it compared to the G23.

My 17 with FG's removed feels closer for some reason

Does the 23 still have the "thumb shelves"?

Eta: IIRC, the Gen 2 front grip radius is slightly rounder.

Yes. Outstanding point. I think that is the key difference in feel.
