So do you use your slide stop as a slide release and have you had any problems doing so?

ETA: It is slide stop not slide lock.

yay.   i also have the glock factory extended slide lock on all of mine.

Need one more option to the poll, 'sometimes'.  While I have used the slide lock release, I find that it is easier to just 'pull back on the slide and release it'.  We still have the stock slide release and they are kind of small to release quickly.

i have all one type of extended releases on my Glocks. I also have installed a racker on 2 of them

I hope nobody is using their slide lock as the slide release.  Maybe the slide stop lever

I use it sometimes, and until it breaks in and becomes easy.  Usually I power rack the slide after a reload.

The "slide lock" is the part that has the tabs you have to pull down to remove the slide from the frame.  The part you are talking about is the "slide stop".  That's what he meant by that post.

Yes, but Glock calls this part the slide lock.

To answer your question, I haven't heard of any other than theoretical wearing of the parts.

I have used it before in the early 90's. I can't get it to release 100% of the time so now I power rack it. Always works.

So its just theoretical then.

My grip does not work well with Glock's extended slide stop.  My high grip activates the slide stop inadvertently.  Due to that I've been slingshotting the slide for the past several years.

Exactly.

How many times do we have to go over this?

I had thought about that but after nearly 10 years of slingshotting the slide it has become the new normal for me.

Another advantage is it is practiced every time I dry fire.

I run the AroTek Slide Release

12/14/2013 9:07:46 AM EDT
[#28]
I reload using the overhand method which is like the sling shot method only with your hand turned 180 degrees. I can easily release the slide with the factory slide stop though, full mag or not.

I use a Vickers extended version on all of my Glocks, and yes, I use it to release the slide during reloads.

Yeah, that's what I do too.  I guess I used the wrong terminology.  When I manipulate the slide my off hand reaches across the rear of the slide, thumb toward body.

I generally slingshot my Glocks.

Other pistols, with bigger slide release levers, get RTB'd that way.
