I picked up a new Glock 17 Gen 4 recently and I didn't notice before I bought it, but when I got it home and was comparing it to my Glock 19 Gen 4 the Glock 17 has a smooth trigger while the 19 has a serrated or grooved trigger.  I don't really have a preference either way I was just curious if that was normal, I thought I read somewhere that all new Glocks come with the serrated trigger?

For reference, the Glock 17 has a trigger face like the one on the left, while the Glock 19 (and most others I've seen) had the one on the right.

I believe it's always been that way. Something about the 19 needing that trigger for import reasons.

EDIT - Spelling.

the grooves probably qualify it as a target trigger for import purposes

Ok thanks for the info I didn't realize that.  I thought they all just came with the serrated trigger by default.

All Glock compacts and sub compacts have always came with serrated triggers. And yes, it's for import points. They can be changed out with the fullsized triggers for user comfort which I have done with all of mine.

They are interchangeable if you prefer one over the other.

Yep, I have changed all mine out.  Serrated starts hurting after a few hundred rounds.  Easy to do and about$14 last time I checked.

This.  Much like you'll notice the rounding done on the front of slide on compacts, to help with CCW, Glock tailors the features of the full vs compact to the intended purpose.  Like others have said, I've never been a fan of the bumpy trigger on my 27, but I don't shoot it as much as my 22 so I haven't bothered to change it.

I've switched all mine to the smooth trigger as well.
