After calling around to every gun store in the area for the past two weeks I was finally able to track down a Glock 30S.  Today I went trick or treating to one of the local shops to pick it up.  Afterwards, I headed out to the range to put a couple rounds through it.

My initial impression - It is a spectacular firearm, and it will become my EDC once I get a holster for it. The recoil was very manageable, and the accuracy is everything you would expect.  Put 100 rounds through it with no malfunctions.  Ergonomically, it fits better in my hand than the G30 and it is very comfortable to shoot.

I shot 20 rounds fairly quickly (~1-2 secs in between shots).  Getting back onto target was easy, and I didn't experience a significant departure in accuracy compared to when I was taking my time in between shots.

I had an old nylon Blackhawk holster that I originally bought for my G26 that the G30S fit into perfectly; however, it would not fit into my Comp-Tac Minotaur holster made for the G19/23/32.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase and I can't wait to get some more range time with it.  I attached a couple pictures below.  The first is a picture of a side-by-side photo of my G26 and the G30S - slide width is almost exactly the same, but the frame is a little bit wider.  The last two are pictures of the G30S in the Blackhawk holster with a T-shirt covering it, and the last is a picture of my ripped abs/G30S at about the 3 o'clock position (I'm backwards and left-handed).

Thanks for the review!  I've got one on order and am like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for it to show up!

Got mine back in August and it hasn't left my side since. I settled on a pitbull tactical bloodline iwb holster and it carries perfect at about 1 o'clock. It also helps that I can carry a glock 21 mag in a snagmag as my reload.

I was kind of looking for a 30S when I came across a used one in the EE that had less than 200 rounds through it.  I picked it up and was essentially new.  I have since added Heinie Slant Pro all black sights, Wolff spring and guide rod and that is about it....300 rounds down range later and it is great.  Very accurate, moderate recoil and I can see it as my EDC down the road

Oh, forgot, added Pearce grip extensions to the mags I have for it now, seven mags, I have three more on back order, to make ten mags, my minimum mag number rule of thumb for each pistol I have

Congrats on the new pistol.  Hope it serves you well...and that you never need to use it.

How can you shoot those with no front sights?

Joking aside, I've always wanted a G30s but that would mean I would have to stock a new caliber.

I picked up my 30S a month or 2 ago and I love it.  I have had a few handguns and this is by far my favorite.  The way it sits in my hands feels so natural.

Yep, cause it's a roll of the dice whether the slim frame or regular fits your hand. Gen 4 solves this with the 2 backstraps.

It's not that as much for me, I want the skinny slide with the gen four frame.  I have had a gen 3 30, 21SF, and now a gen 4 21.

$529 sounds like a real good deal.  Mine was ~$580 + tax, and most of the ones I saw on Gun Broker were fetching about the same.

Took mine to the range today to try out a new A&G adapter for a Glock 21 mag to fit the 30 frame...worked great...now I would like to see a 21SF frame with a Glock 36 slide.   Almost like a high capacity Commander style Glock...this is what I would like to see.  This 30S is one sweet shooting pistol.

Picking mine up today...wanted to know...

Do your aftermarket sights have to be for the 36 or 30?

For those of you who have changed the recoil spring/rod assembly....which model number am I buying for 30 or 30sf?

Almost noone is designating components for the 30s yet.

Thanks,

Rocco

There is only one size of sights, it's just the height that you need to worry about.

Is there a unique height differential I need to offset, or do you just mean as a carry gun?

I put in the brass stacker RSA. It's works perfectly.

As far as sights I got the trijicon hd's and they're the same ones for the G30/G21.

Depends on what sights you purchase, I am a Heinie Slant Pros fan and if you buy these, they are specific and segregate the 36 from the rest of the line.  When I called Heinie, they said to purchase the ones for the 36 to go on a 30S slide.

See my comments about the sights above...as far as the RSA, I install Wolff in all of my Glocks and they are grouped into the 29/30/36, the assembly I purchased for my 30S was from this group...BTW,  I went up one spring weight from a 17 to a 19 LB in my 30S and works fine.  The 21 LB is too strong, the two piece rod does not seat properly.

The SF is a frame designation and should not have any bearing on the RSA type

As long as you buy a whole set you'd be fine.   The Glock factory sights come in varying heights that you can change to accommodate a gun that might be shooting higher or lower than it should, if you need them.

I happen to know for a fact that the Glock Gods' believe firmly in the 'we help those who help themselves' mentality and punish their slothful followers who refuse to improve their factory sights.

I'm looking for a holster to use until my leather one comes in.  I'm curious if anyone has insight on whether the G30S would fit a CompTac Minotaur made for the G30.  The only major difference I can see (referencing Glock's measurements) is the ~0.5 in difference in the barrel height.

Thanks!

The 36 slide is the 30S slide, so that makes sense.
