Whats the difference in these two models?  I want a 10mm and trying to figure out my options.
So basically looking for the good bad and ugly.  Also can I reload 10mm with my 40 SW dies?

Not really a Glock person so please overlook my ignorance.

The G20 and G20SF (and the G21/G21SF) are full size, bigger overall than the G17 9mm.

The G29 and G29SF are smaller framed guns, closer to the G19 9mm.

G20s have a 15 +1 capacity, the G29s have a 10 +1 capacity.

I believe the reloading equipment is the same as the .40S&W, but I don't remember for sure.

Thank you for that info.

This should help illustrate the size difference pretty well.

I loved my 20.

The dies are the same.  If you're using a progressive loader (such as a Dillon 550, 650, etc.), be sure to note that the 40 uses small pistol primers and the 10mm uses large pistol primers, so you'll have to change out the priming assembly.

G29 for CCW
G20 for OC/Range/Hunting

G29 is similar in size to the G19/23... slightly longer barrel, wider, and noticeably heavier.

Both are excellent weapons and Glock reliable.

Hot rounds (1250fps+) will feel snappier out of the G29 then the G20.

Using a 550 but having trouble getting my brain around the settings.  Longer case = what?
I am assuming I will need to readjust station 1 and 3 every time I change calibers?  I assume the belling
and powder drop won't be effected by longer case.

You will need to adjust all (4) stages I'd think, the powder activation and belling will be done at a different cartridge length also... I'm in the same boat, actually considering picking up another tool head/die set and keeping both setups on separate tool heads ready to rockz!

You wouldn't have to adjust station one.  They are resized the same and the spent primer is punched out.  Doesn't matter the length.  The other three will need adjusted for the longer case and OAL.

Good info here gentleman.  Now, what is a good quality ammo that can be reloaded ( not just once or twice) and why
is 90% of everything I see hollow point?  I don't particularly want to spend extra money on hollow points if I don't need
to.  I have plenty of 10mm hollow points to reload with.

If you're already set up with everything else you need to reload, just buy some new brass.

The more I look the more I think that is the way to go.  Starline @ .22 each, which BTW would be
the most I have ever spent on brass and in reality the first time I have purchased "new" brass.

The G29 is the same size and weight as the G30, not the 19. I like the g20SF the best. Looking for a Gen 4 G20 now.,

Another question has come up.  Big difference between the small frame G20 and the large frame?
10/7/2013 5:40:41 PM EDT
[#15]
the distance between the front and back of the SF frame is noticeably shorter. I can hardly tell the difference between my glock 17 and 20sf. now a straight 20/21 is flat out not comfortable for me as I have to "reach" for the trigger and the ergo's are just not there for my short sausage fingers.

as for loading 10mm like stated above all but station 1 have to be changed between 40 and 10mm as well as primers. you can exceed 40 s&w velocities without breaking a sweat or stressing your brass. I would however reccomend a stronger recoil spring as I feel factory is way underrated for 10mm. especially full house loads. I prefer 200gr loads for plinking and fmj's work fine. no need to run hp's. power pistol is a nice powder for med to hot loads and meter's decently.

one thing I never got around to trying (sold the barrel before I got the gun) but I had a lone wolf 40 conversion barrel and for shit's and grin's I wanted to see if I could run bullets out to 10mm length in the 40 case and they dropped right in (180gr truncated cone bullet) so in theory you could run near 10mm level loads in 40 brass (as you gain case capacity with the longer coal)

SF is gen 3, it is closer distance from back of grip to trigger surface. Gen 4 are all SF guns.

Get a gen 4

Just ordered a G20 gen 4, actually I ordered 3 of them (I have my FFL) and will sell two.

Ordered some starline brass also, now I need to work up a load. God I hate having
to add another line of powder to my inventory.  I suppose I will look for some #7 as I am
a fan of Accurate arms.

power pistol works well if you already have that?

While new 10MM brass may seem a little spendy at first glance, you quickly make up the initial cost over factory loadings by reusing the cases many times over.

Most of my reloads are lower pressure plinking fodder anyway so the cases last quite a while too.

My biggest problem is launching some of those little suckers into God only knows where when I'm blasting away out in the sticks.

Seems like I spend more time hunting for spent cases than I actually spend shooting sometimes.

Yep.

My favorite thing about shooting mainly 9mms is that I always come back from the range with WAY more brass than I shoot because so many people leave them lying around.  With pretty much anything else, I'm always going to end up losing a few.

#5 will work well if you're looking for a lighter practice load.  I've used it in the past for an IPSC load, and I've got a long loaded .40 load that also uses it and gives a velocity around 960fps.  You can probably do the same with #2 and W231, but I haven't looked at those two powders in a long time.  I can't help with the hot loads, never got around to pushing the limits with the 10mm.

As for loaded ammo, check out Georgia Arms.  They used to have a good selection of reloaded 10mm ammo at decent prices, not sure what's available there at the moment though.

Yeah I've got some load data on #5 but I think one of the fun things about a 10mm will be testing it's limits.  I actually want to
load some 135 grains and push for some 1700 fps.  Thanks for the input gentlemen.

Well, received my G20 gen 4 yesterday.  First Glock for me. NOT impressed with the case and how it was
packed,(I love my XDs) might as well have used a zip lock bag.  Gun feels great in my hand and the trigger appears to be
very crisp with a tight reset.  I don't even think I will use the back straps that came with it.  My old eyes
like the sights but I will probably switch them to Hi Viz..red front green rears.  Hopefully make it to the range
tomorrow.  Snowing here today and in the high twentys but when it comes to shooting a new gun... I don't care
plus I don't have enough ammo to stay on the range very long.  Starline brass should hit on Friday so I will start
working up some loads.

Got 30 rounds down the pipe of my new G20.  Other than my middle finger taking some abuse
from the trigger guard, I was quite impressed.  Gun was accurate and trigger reset was sweet.
I was hitting clay targets at 30 yards about every 3rd shot.  Time to work up some loads.
