FINALLY found a 30S in town today and had to pick it up.  I haven't shot it yet but it feels great in my hand.  I really like that I can fit all three fingers on the grip. The only thing so far I am having issues with is the magazines are sooo fu**ing hard to load.  The 10th round is very hard and I cant seem to get the mag to click in when full.

You will really like this pistol.  Try the Pearce Grip extensions, they do make a difference.  The S does have more snap than my plain 30, but not as much as my Colt Officers.

This is a fine pistol...do you mind telling what you had to pay for it?  I understand if you don't want to.

Regards,

I dont mind, I paid $599 for it.

Do you have any issues locking the magazine in with 10 rds in it?  I am a new Glock owner, I have only test fired a 30S at an indoor range they wouldn't sell so I really know nothing about Glocks.  I would think a full mag would fit just fine though  Should I just force it in because its not broken in yet?  I have made sure each and every bullet is laying flat as can be and everything.

Edit- I can get it in I just have to slam it on my palm pretty good.  Not like pounding it or anything but more than I am use to.

I have a 30SF and it is hard to get the mag to seat and even harder to hit the mag release with one finger. It takes a lot of pressure. I carry 10+1

Yeah I think it just takes a little more effort than my last pistol.  It will probably break in but if it doesn't it doesn't bother me now knowing nothing is wrong ha.

My Glock 30 gen4 is basically the same as far as the mags and frame size. I have a lot of trouble getting 10 rds in a mag and sometimes I have to unload and reload to finally get 10. Then it is hard to get the mag to seat without a good thump on the bottom. Also with a full mag the mag release is hard to activate but not as bad as the slide release on slide lock. It's impossible for me to release the slide without doing it by racking the slide.

When I had a 30 I found it damn near impossible to get the 10th round in.   I had a metal bed frame at the time and put my weight against the round, using the rim of the cartridge to catch against my bed rail to get the damn thing in the magazine.    I pushed it in the gun and left it there for awhile and was able to get it in by hand after that.

I worried that the pressure would cause problems, but I shot about a box of ammo through it (you know, back when it was 10 bucks ) loading one round at a time to top the magazine off, and wasn't able to get it to malfunction at all.

I do have trouble getting the 10th round in the mag and seating it does take a fairly good palm bump....but in my experience the mags will loosen up with repeated use.

The only mods I have made to my 30S are Pearce Grip extensions like I mentioned, Heinie Slant Pros and Wolff Springs and guide rod.  I have using Wolff products for 20 years without any issues and the Slant Pros are perfect for my 55 year old eyes.

It don't matter what you use, it requires a lot of force.

Nice!  I saw a few on Gun Broker and thought about going that route before I found this one but I would have only saved $5 and it was RIGHT THERE.  I have a hard time waiting for internet order, I am sure most of you have the same problem haha.

I found it at the weirdest store too.  It's called Patriot Gun and Pawn and I was just in there to use them as my FFL to send my PAP AK back.  When I was in there, I asked if they had a 30S and they were like "YEP just got one in!" and supposedly its the only one in the valley (I think he may have just been trying to persuade me) but I called almost every gun shop in Boise/Meridian the day before and no one had one for sale.   It is kind of a weird shop that is an FFL, Glock dealer and a pawn shop.  Maybe these stores are in different areas but it seems weird to me here in Boise/Meridian.  Or do all pawn shops have to have an FFL license?

The uplula does make the tenth round go in much easier. I got the Pearce extension for my 30s but I had to sand the front edge cause it was so sharp. You do have to push hard to seat a full mag while in condition 1 but that's the same with my g27 too. I've been carrying it very comfortably in an aegis armory shield iwb holster which I highly recommend.

The best part about aegis is how fast their shipping is. I ordered on a Monday and had the holster on that Thursday!

I traded my G30sf for a G30s-sf a couple of month ago. Nice carry piece. My older mags hav loosened up considerably, but when new the 30 sf had the same problems loading as you are having with the 30-s. The mags loosen up with use.

All my holsters for my G19 work great with the 30s except the all Kydex holsters. Leather and hybrid kydex/leather made for the G19 fit great.

Yes but it allows you to overseat that round and give the spring a proper set.

Very nice. I've seen and handled a few in gun stores, but haven't gotten a chance to shoot one yet.

As for your magazine issue: Combat Reload. Slam that bitch home with some force.

I finally had a chance to take it to a local indoor range and I love the way it shoots as much as the way it looks and feels.  I only had enough time to put around 100 rounds through it and I didnt experience any FTF or anything like that.  I noticed my rounds seemed to go a few inches higher than I thought/was aiming but this is my first Glock/new gun so there will be some getting used to.  I have read some feedback about it being really snappy but honestly I didn't notice much of a difference between my last compact XD45.

Highly recommended

EDIT- Also its not too difficult to load all 10 rounds in the mag anymore.  You really dont even need the little loader it comes with.

I almost bought one yesterday. Local shop has 3 for $555.00 each. I may trade my XDM towards it next week if they still have them.
