Has anyone ever tried to run 9mm bullets in a .40 S&W 22rd mag?  Will the 22rd mag fit into a Glock 17/19?

I remember a few years back on HKPRO.com that a few guys were taking .40S&W mags for their P2000 (? or maybe it was another model but it was definatly HK), putting 9mm in them (because they could get 1 or 2 extra rounds in) and running them in their P2000 9mm's.

Just wondering if the same could be done with the Glock.  I do not have a Glock 17/19 to try this out on.

Yes they will fit. Not sure how reliable it would be. I have shot 500 +- 50 rnd out of my 17 with 22 mags. It worked ok had a few FTF though.

I know the inside dimensions are different, I just was not sure about the outside.   My guess would be, the FTF was probably caused by the extra wiggle room the 9mm had inside the 22rd .40S&W mag.

Not so much the wiggle in the mag but the with of the feed lips.

Some guys at HKPRO helped me find the correct thread from 2010.  It was originally for the USPc, they use the same mag as the P2000, so theoretically it should work for both models.

Using 40 cal. mags as 9mm mags in USPc

Never tried it, but have to ask...  if you can have a 22 round .40 mag, why not get a 33 round 9mm mag?

Sorry, misread your post.

I have a g22 with a 9mm conversion barrel in it.  I have used my regular 15 rd 40 mags loaded with 9mm a few times without any problems but usually use a 33 rd 9mm mag as its just for a range fun gun.

Not to speak for OP, but in states like mine (and yours) it's not legal to use a mag with more than a 30 round capacity in a non-NFA gun.

I was thinking about another thread where someone said they wished Glock would make a mag the same size as the 22rd .40 SW for 9mm.  They thought the 33rd 9mm mag was to long and the 22rd .40SW mag was just the correct length.  So it got me thinking if anyone had ever tried to use a 22rd .40SW mag in a 9mm pistol.  That's all.

I have no interest in actually trying it out, only being inquisitive.

How many 9mm rounds were you able to fit into the .40S&W mag?

Have done it at an IDPA match. Forgot my 9 mm mags. It WAS NOT very reliable
