Does it matter which generation of mag you have to drop free, or is it the generation of handgun that makes the difference?

My Glocks are all Gen 3, but I didn't buy some mags at the gun show because they (salesman that didn't speak English real well) stated they were Gen 1 mags.  The price was good, but I didn't do it because I didn't know if they would drop free.  They were original Glock, not Korean ( just the guy was).  He stated they would not drop free.

Cabelas is charging $39 for a mag.  These were $25.

The drop free feature occurs from the metal lining inside the mag not allowing the body of the mag to flex when loaded which would casue it to stick inside the gun.
