Has anyone seen wierd things happen in their shooting after switching?
POA/POI shifts? Speed/Accuracy changes? Pain while shooting that wasn't there before? |
|
I use the small backstrap on the full size frames, which make it the same as a gen 3. I didn't like the shape of the grip on the mid size frames on the gen 3's but the gen 4's without the backstrap fit like a glove.
Either way, I didn't notice much of a difference in the transition. |

My shooting is about the same with my Gen 4's and 3's. I do use the medium backstrap on my Gen 4's to keep the "grip feel" close to the same as the Gen 3. Have you tried that? |

Light reloads fired in my Gen3 G21 no issues. Same loads in my Gen4 G21 I get brass down the back of my shirt collar. Bump the load a fraction of a grain and the issue went away.
WWB 230 gr no issues. I like the Gen4 fit in my hand better and the larger mag release lets me drop a mag without shifting my grip. |

I'm using the medium beavertail. I feel like its bigger or has shifted my hand is a goofy way. |

The PD I work for went to issued Gen4 G22s last year. While I LOVE the way they feel with no back strap, I did notice my G22 shooting differently than a 3rd Gen. For me, it was shooting low and right (I'm right handed). After shooting a few mags through it, the problem went away. I marked it up as not being used to the Gen4 and having to learn to grip it again. To me, it is different enough that it felt like a completely different gun than the 3rd Gen guns. It took me a few mags to get used to the way it shot, then no problems at all. I told everyone at the PD that got issued a Gen4 (we didn't have enough money at the time to get everyone a Gen4, so those that already carried personally owned 3rd Gen G22s are continuing to carry them till we buy more, but everyone is carrying a G22 now) to think of it as a completely different gun. Same experience as me- after a couple mags, everyone shot well, better in most cases than what they carried before. Everyone that now has a Gen4 swears by it. While I'll probably keep my personal guns 3rd Gen and earlier for simpler logistics and parts compatibility (I don't personally own any Gen4 guns), the Gen4 guns are VERY GOOD!

What's so about the question?
It's a different grip size. Quoted:

No... ![]() What's so about the question?
It's a different grip size. If grip size affects your ability to hit where you're aiming, you need better trigger control. I bounce back and forth between 3rd and 4th gen 9s/40s, a 3rd gen G20, and friends Sheilds, XDs, XD-Ss, etc. without an issue. |

I moved from my Gen3 to Gen4 and found myself shooting to the left a bit. I thought the sights that I had recently installed might have been a little off (cause I KNOW It couldn't have been me). After another couple hours at the range on another day, I was shooting MUCH better. Glad it was just me cause I love the Gen4 Glocks. |

All Gen 3s here. Have spare strikers, recoil assemblies, extractors, etc. I would rather keep all Gen 3 for logistic purposes. Opposite for me, for the most part all gen4's, still have a G30 gen2.5, and G29sf.... the rest gen4's.... Shoot better, I don't know about that.... maybe more comfortable the new texture/grip size/,mag release! ~g |
