So, I've been carrying a G19 in an MTAC for a while. I have no intention of changing because it suits me perfectly. However, I am a 9mm / 45acp guy with nothing from the 90's in between, and I'd like to have a Glock 45acp option. The question here is exactly which 45acp to carry IWB? I have a G21 Gen 4 which is awesome. I love it, but it's a "carry around the place" piece, certainly not a CCW. I'm left with...
1. G36 (limited capacity) 2. G30sf (still fat slide but better capacity) 3. G30s (not a fat slide but thin barrel + allegedly snappy recoil) Which one? I know the G30s is newish but I truly wish to "buy once cry once" this time. So, if a fellow wanted to carry a Glock 45acp...which one? Thank you. |

I had a 30 at one time, and people were doing the 36/30 conversion back then. I didn't want to buy another gun just to make a hybrid, so I passed. I eventually sold it and got a 27 for CCW.
I voted 30S. I always did like shooting the 30, I just got used to carrying a smaller gun. |

I carry a G36 in a MTAC my G19 fits the holster but it is not shaped for the light rail on the G19 . I use stock mag caps, the +0 and +1 never felt right, I tend to carry a handful of spare mags in pocket carriers, belt clips, etc.
I'd prefer to get a G30s but locally they are non-existent at this time. That "felt recoil" on the G30s should be the same or less than the G36. My G21 is a much softer shooter than the G36. I like the idea of the G30s reduced the slide thickness but allowing backup mags from a G21. I'd be ahead of the game if I could kick my need for a 45 acp carry and stick with a G19. |

If you can find one you should get the 30s. I just got one and took it to the range for the first time last week. I have no idea what people are talking about with the snappy recoil, i shot it along side a g27 and g21 and it had slightly more recoil than the 21 and not nearly as much as the 27. It recoils like a +p 9mm to be honest, and the accuracy was on par with the g21.
Thinner slide, lighter weight, sf frame, 10+1 capacity, and about the size of a g19. There's really no reason to buy a g30 anymore unless you're really recoil sensitive, and the g36 just doesn't have the capacity. |

G30sf and G21 mags for reloads. Win! I'm ashamed to say that I hadn't considered this for magazine flexibility. Since I have a gen 4 G21, it would certainly make sense to buy a carry 45acp that will accept the magazines. That puts the G36 out for me. As for the poll, I should have put in G30 Gen 4. For me, I'd probably consider it over the Gen 3 SF because the grip is on my Gen 4 G21 is really growing on me. All of my other Glocks are all Gen 3. I really need to handle and shoot a G30 gen 4 and a G30S side-by-side. If anyone here has both, I have a range E of Dallas if you'd like to do a little shooting.

It's about 0.5" shorter (the grip) than the G19, so it conceals better. Not sure about it being a bit snappy, just feels like a compact 45 to me. |

I have a regular G-30. Love it. Same here. Carry the 21 every now and then, but 30 conceals so much easier. ETA: My G30 is gen 3 and 21 is gen4 and have also owned 21 in gen3. The 21 in gen4 is an improvement over other gens. As for the 30, I honestly don't know how you could improve it, but haven't had any trigger time with G30 gen 4 so reserve my opinion. |
