I added a Model 29 to my Model 20 yesterday. The 20 is a bit too large for everyday carry & certainly too large for discreet carry, IMO.
I had some Tru-Glo night/optic combo sights added & also put on some Pierce pinky extensions to allow my larger hands to get all my fingers on the grip in order to control the 10mm. I thought about using the +2 extensions instead but worried about the feeding of the last rd or two reliably. Sadly, it'll be next weekend before I can get it to the range to check the sight's accuracy setting. Lastly, what's everyone using for a carry holster for the 29? I've been looking at the IWB Blade-Tech models but haven't yet decided. Thanks in advance & pics will follow later. |

I am using a CompTac Minotaur for my 29 and I love it. Been wearing it for about 3yrs now.

I really should sell my G29. I like it, but it really just sleeps in my safe. I carry a G26 daily. . If you are serious about selling, Short frame ( SF ) or standard ? condition ? round count ? Standard; low round count. I traded my G30 to my brother for the G29 and I just never shoot it. I probably have shot two-three mags through it. Brother doesn't reload and doesn't have a lot of interest in shooting and hardly ever shot it. Low round count. Night sights. I would probably only sell in-state, ftf. I don't like involving the Feds in my business. |
I've got a 30SF with a 10mm conversion barrel and use a Simply Rugged holster. I've got the same sights on my G19 and plan to put them on the G30 when I get around to it; they work well in various lighting condition. I've only had one ninja tell me how they weren't any good since they weren't designed to hook on my belt or boots for one handed cocking.

Unless I am in the wild I don't carry the 29. I've just read of too many issues with 9mm shots not stopping the perps quick enough. For me, it's almost always going to be one of the .357mag/.45acp/10mm guns I own. Since I live in the city, I'd say I too "live in the wild".

9mm not stopping perps is just anecdotal internet blather. Not sure if you're serious or not................
Regardless, I read of too many urbanites that get shot 3-4 times & still live to run away to rob & kill another day. Yes, I know shot placement is paramount & all that. But I certainly feel more confident with the 10mm over the 9mm, FWIW. |

Well, I found a holster at a local police/mil supply store. I already had the mag pouch from my Model 20SF. Pics as promised. Note how much longer the Tru-Glo front sight is when compared to the Glock OEM sight. Nice setup. I'm ashamed to admit, as many Glocks as I've owned, I never had a 10mm. Been thinking about one a lot lately. |

If I thought modern 9mm hollow points wouldn't protect me and my family, I wouldn't have bought a G26 for myself, my daughter, and one of my sons. I might occasionally carry the G29, but it really is noticeably bulkier and heavier than the G26...enough to make the G26 a lot more comfortable for me to carry. Follow-up shots are also quicker and more accurate with the G26, in my experience. I just don't think many miscreants could stand up to a quick triple-tap of 9mm +p+ 127 grain Rangers. I enjoy shooting my G20 at the range. I just prefer carrying the G26. I'm going to be using a suppressed G17 for a nightstand gun. Currently using the G17 sans suppressor. |
