I appears the 17 L is about 1/2" longer which gives it a slightly longer sight radius
both come from the factory with the comp trigger which is about 4.5lb

My 34 has a slide cutout but a non ported barrel , adjustable rear sight and the slide release is slightly larger

Not sure how the 17L comes set up

The 17L was designed from the ground up to be pure awesomeness.  The 34 was designed to play games and is praised by those who were not deemed worthy by the universe for the 17L.  I know many who ditched their 34's for 17L's but none who went the opposite way.

This post nails it.  Glock 17L is pure awesomeness.

The only difference is that the 17L has a 6" barrel, and the 34 has a 5.25"

My 19yo son can put 10 shots at 1" at 25yds with my 17L
He can only do it within 2" with my 34.

And I caught a 32lb small mouth this past winter.

I might be willing to travel to see your 19-yr-old son shoot a 10-shot, 25-yd group!  Had a guy make the same claim a few years ago, and I challenged him to a substantial bet, if he could do that with me as a witness.  All-of-a-sudden, his religion precluding his making wagers.

The 34 has a 5.31" barrel and the 17L has a 6.02" barrel.  The 17L is too large to use in some shooting sports.

The G34/35 is the perfect combination of weight and balance....
(But I still would like a G17L)

The Glock 17L also carries the straight edge lines of the slide all the way forward whereas the Glock 34 has a rounded/blended front profile of the slide very similar to the Glock 26 front slide profile.

Oh and the Glock 17L goes "all the way to 11" on the awesomeness scale.
