I was originally going to side carry my SIG 228, and ankle holster my Glock 26. However.. I am leaning towards retiring my SIG and strictly carry my 26 on my hip along with two 10 round mags. The SIG is somewhat of a heavy sidearm, especially in comparison to the Glock 26. Does it make sense to put the SIG in the safe and carry just the Glock 26?
Your thoughts? |
| My primary CCW is a Gen4 26. I have a 10 round magazine in the gun and an 11 round magazine on my weak side. I don't feel under gunned with the 26. It's easy to carry and I'm pretty accurate with it. I have a 19, 17 and 34 also, but the 26 gets most of the carry time. If you're that worried about round count, carry a 15 or 17 round magazine as a spare. FWIW, I carry a 17 for work. |

My main carry weapon is a G26 with an extra 15 rd mag. It is very effective and has plenty of firepower for it's size. Do you carry in a potential dangerous area that you feel the need for a BUG? Seems a bit much for everyday carry IMO.
I have a NIB gen 4 G19 if you want to trade your P228 |
| If you can find some, go with the 26 and buy a Glock 19 magazine (or 2 or 3) as a spare reload. The 19 magazine gives you 15 rounds if you have to reload and is far easier and quicker in my experience to execute the reload with. The slightly longer magazine is easier to grab from a pouch and insert than a G26 magazine on the reload IMHO. (also some guys go with Glock 17 magazines for the same reason). |
| If you are willing to carry the 228 then moving up to a Glock 19 shouldn't be a problem. My recommendation would be to pick up the 19 and carry an extra mag; however, if not interested in grabbing the 19 then just go with the 26. BOth are excellent pistols..the 19 is just a bit more comfortable to hold and shoot. |
