I tried googling this info, but everything that came up was old information.
I am planning on getting my first Glock, and can't decide whether to get a Glock 34 Gen 3 or Gen 4. I'm a normal sized guy, so I'm not too worried about the back strap, but I do plan on putting a light on it. I was told by one gun dealer that the Gen 3's tend to jam up with the light mounted, but then someone else told me that only smaller framed Gen 3 Glocks have that issue, not the 34. Can someone with Glock 34 experience tell me if I am I better off going with the Gen 4, or is the Gen 3 fine? FYI, this gun's main purpose will be training and SHTF situations. |

Ran a 34 with X300 for a few thousands rounds and no issues. Gen 3 produced sometime mid 2010. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s73/hownowbrowncow_02/Guns/IMAG0263.jpg That's the exact set up I want to go with. |

Gen III or IV - total preference I have two G35's one is a Gen III and the other a Gen IV both run fine with a Streamlight TLR1s mounted,, I prefer the feel of the Gen IV over the III Looking to install some Trijicon HD sights I also run a Lone Wolf conversion barrel and shoot 9mm at the range, for cheaper practice with no issues. |

The only thing I heard about lights andGlocks was that the recoil spring would have a shorter service life. I have a gen4, 34 and 35, great pistols, tricky for concealed carry but great for evrything else. Although I have wondered about debris getting in the slide and causing a jam. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I've been CCing my G34 (without the light) for three months now in a Comp-Tac CTAC. If my Raven Phantom LC ever shows up, I'll try it with the light. I have a pair of Gen 3 G34s that I have mounted Streamlight TLR-1s to. Both function properly with 115gr-147gr bullets with the lights attached.
IIRC the issue with weapon lights is most commonly associated with the 40cal Glocks. One common fix was to use fresh strong magazine springs. Anyhoo enjoy your new G34! |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Ever see a Beretta 92 slide? It is nothing BUT a cut out Really though Ihave seen a Youtube video where a guy pours in dirt through the cut out of a G34 and it had no issues.... And even if it did - an entire recoil spring assembly is $12. I have a couple of extras for Just whatever in the parts box |

Blue label Glocks are Glocks that have been discounted for Cops, firemen, EMTs and Medics. The box has a blue label on it. I don't know what a red label is. You forgot to add GSSF members. Red labels are Glocks for sale to anyone with standard capacity ( >10rds) mags. White labels are ban state Glocks and the subcompacts... Anything with a substandard capacity mag. ( <=10rds) |

First off, 98.4% of people that work in gun shops are idiots. Ask yourself, which one is more expensive? Which one does he want you to buy? If he didn't have Glocks in stock, they'd be shit and you would need to buy the XD that he had in stock. Second off, weapon light issue was a problem due to high slide velocity in .40's. |

The Surefire X400's and other rail mounted lights that use a tightened screw to clamp them to the rail can be overtightened causing the plastic frame to distort which I suppose could cause a malfunction.
The key is to just lightly snug the screw if you use one of those. |

Blue Label price is the same for Gen 3 and Gen 4. The dealer that told me it was out of stock of all models, and not trying to sell me anything because he wasn't sure what he would have in, and told me to check other dealers. He did have XDs, USPs, and other handguns in stock. Stop being a cynic. |

I'm in the market for a G34 as well. Only question is, Gen3 or Gen4? Personal preference. Try to shoot both if possible. If not, at least try to handle both. I went with a Gen 3 because my duty weapon is a Gen 3 G22 and I wanted them to feel the same. If not for that, I probably would have gone Gen 4 because I like the texture better. |

( <=10rds) I just signed up for GSSF so I could pick up a 34. I've reached my local shops artificial limit on blue label guns for people with creds. Now I just need to find a blue label 34 :) It will cost me the same in the end but I get a GSSF membership out of the deal. |
