read it many times but finally experienced for myself. i've always heard that if Glock would only build a single stack 9 ... it would be awesome.

after being a G19 owner for 8+ years and thousands of rounds shot, I jumped ship and went over to the Shield in 9.

wow .... what a great size gun. easy to conceal and it shoots wonderful.

sorry but my G19's will become safe queens and the Shield becomes the EDC.

sure wish it had been a Glock.

Agreed. Glock 9mms are truly awful. Being the hero that I am, you can send them to me and I'll make sure they never come anywhere near you again. Deal?

Good for you, OP. This will not affect Glock at all.

Single stack 9 is popular fad that will pass.

The G45 should be a single stack 9mm, and the G40 should be a .22 LR.

Not for those that carry IWB.  Thin is in.

That said the G19 at 1.18 inches wide is not bad at all for IWB carry.

My principle dislike for the Shield is that the "thumb safety" is almost impossible to operate with just your thumb. I'd probably carry an M&P9c with no thumb safety before I'd carry a shield, even though I really like the dimensions of the shield. Or if they made the safety optional.

That is just a silly statement with no basis in reality.

The thumb safety is my one dislike about the Shield as well. Supposedly in the future you will be able to order one without the manual safety? Basically the complete opposite of how they release the full size models.

Have to agree, wanted a single stack Glock and waited for SHOT to see if there possibly might be an announcement, but as there wan't I'm seriously back to TRYING TO FIND!!! a 9mm Shield.

I'll keep my other Glocks but the casualty may be my Glock 26 - or it may become a glove compartment gun.

The Shield is only slightly thinner than a G26 and has a terrible trigger.... not worth it to lose the double stack/interchangeable mags for me for such little gain in "comfort."

Bought my father a Shield for Christmas. He has since gave it to my mother and went back to his old Glock 27. I really like the Shield so I carried it for a week or 2 before giving it to mom to see if I liked it. It carried adn shot great but while doing some drills while pocket carrying I managed to accidentally flip the safety on. When i carried the gun i kept the safety off but this one time I drew the Shield and somehow the safety engaged. THis one time was enough for me so I passed it on to Mom but she too fears accidentally engaging the safety so I am not sure what the future holds for this. If it did not have the safety it would at least be my summer/ warm weather carry gun. Great design great shooting little pistol butt he safety destroys it.

I'm gonna agree here.  I went out to find a Shield and after finding one for a decent price I decided it wasn't going to replace my sub-compact Glocks.  The Shield feels nice in the hand but the size difference is negligable and the trigger was terrible.  I'm also not a fan of the external (thumb) safety.

If Glock sold a DB9 sized Glock they'd be backordered for a year...ijs.
