Does anyone have a good trick for disassembling Glock mags?  I just got a bunch of used Glock 19 mags and want to clean them out.  I've always had a hell of a time taking Glock mags apart, and these are no exception.  Surely there has to be an easier way to get the floor plate off?

Thanks for any help.

Can't help ya bro, Every time i have to take one apart it's a p i t a.  Looks so easy on the youtube vids.  push the middle button thing down, squeeze the sides and slide off. but i swear no matter how hard i squeeze the sides its never enough to make the floor plate slide off.

Guys it's easy - push punch or a glock tool into the floor plate all the way.  Pull using the punch as a lever.  It does require you to use just a bit of force, but nothing major.

My fingers are a little worse for wear, but I got them apart.  It was still a pain in the ass.

It takes a lot of force and I always mar up the floor plates. Fortunately I usually replace them with +2 factory extensions so I can toss the old plates anyway.

Your fingers should be fine if you're doing it correctly.  Use the punch to apply 99% of the force required.  Your thumb acts as a brace.  It used to confuse me years ago until I did more than a few of them and got the hang of it.  You don't even need to squeeze the mag body. Once you do a brand new mag the first time, it is easier on subsequent attempts as the little bits of plastic wear down some.

A little "C" clamp on the mag body sides can help with a new mag to squeeze it in a bit. Then push in the punch and lever it off as described above.

I just did this today and I found the key to make it easy IS SQUEEZING the mag.  It relieves the pressure on the two slots the hold the end plate in place.  And of course the obvious using your punch correctly to apply the force.

Stick the Glock Tool in the access hole and pull it off in the direction it slides. This is the technique taught at the Armorer's Class.

Yep and don't use a c-clamp.

Pull harder, you won't break them.

Leverage has a lot to do with it as well, but I've never had issues getting them apart.
