| The recoil on this gun is pronounced to say the least. Does anyone make a captured recoil spring/guide rod assembly that would reduce recoil a la the G30? Any info would be appreciated! |

What load(s) are you shooting out of your G23?
I find the 165 grain loads (American Eagle 165 is one in particular that I remember) to be rather stout and avoid them. If you're basing your statement on these, I understand why you say this and recommend you switch the ammo you're shooting. 180 grain loads are very soft/smooth shooting in my experience (Winchester, Federal, Remington––-basically every 180 grain load except for Aguila). For me, 180 grain loads are a barely noticeable increase in recoil over shooting a G19, especially with defensive ammo. |

You'll find 180gr loads in Winchester Bonded JHPs and Federal HSTs to be very controllable. After I got a 23 I figured why shoot a G19 when the recoil feels the same. The .40cal rounds are bigger |

Do you find it to recoil more or less than 180? I don't really notice a difference tbh. When I first got my G23 I pretty much was only shooting 180 gr, but decided I wanted something with a little more velocity, so I switched to 165 gr. Hmm, I've never shot a 165 that didn't recoil significantly more than a 180. I prefer the heavies anyway, though. |

I never really noticed that much of a difference, either. Of course I pretty much started out with 40 cal pistols so the recoil never seemed to be all that bad to me. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Well thanks for the suggestions, picked up some 180 gr from SGA and what a difference between that and 165. Guess I will be sticking with 180 from now on! Thanks again. Whew! Good, I'm glad you like it better with the 180s. I sure do! Thanks for checking back in with us!
