My 2nd gen 17 has started ejecting spent cases all over the place, some go in orbit, some fall on the ground next to my foot, some go straight up and over my head and some eject like the used to, off to the right a feww feet away.
I just noticed this on saturday while shooting it, I had three failures as well, all three were exactly the same, the shell got caught by the slide with the mouth of the casing face up. I am not limp wristing I let two others shoot it and the ejection pattern was the same. I was thinking maybe its time for a new recoil spring? I ran 3 different brands of ammo, Tula, WWB and Federal It happened first with the tula so I thought it was the ammo. I dont know how many rounds are on the gun |

I would start by a detail strip and inspecting for any broken or work parts. If you're not experiencing any other problems, my first thought wouldn't be the recoil spring (although they are cheap to replace, so there is no reason not to if you're not sure how many rounds have been fired through it.) How many rounds have YOU fired through the gun? |

How many rounds have YOU fired through the gun? This. Also to clean the crap out of it. I recently cleaned a G19 that a local guy had purchased used. He had no idea how many rounds were on the gun but every round was ejecting to the left. I stripped the slide and there was so much carbon, brass filings, and dirt caked around his extractor I was amazed it was working at all. After the cleaning it ejected perfectly. |

Is it possible that I am causing this problem? I completely disassembled the gun and cleaned it, it was not really very dirty, I ordered 2 new RSA's and put one in the gun, I took it out yesterday, ran 50 rounds through it, it did not have a single failure, but it is still ejecting funny for ME.
I let my friend shoot it, all the cases dropped to the right of him a couple of feet away. I took 2 to the head, one in the forehead and one on top of the head, alot of the casings were ejecting straight up when I was shooting the gun. Oh well.... |
| Limp-wristing can cause weird ejection and a few failures, particularly in a Glock. Hold the gun firmly, try locking your firing arm elbow out and try to lock your wrist in place. Make sure you get a high grip on it as well, all the way up into the beavertail of the grip. |

Took it out again today, I had the same erratic extraction, I even had one case eject to the left side of the gun, as suggested I am going to replace the extractor spring.
I just realized, I started having these issues after running a Tacsol .22 upper on this frame, could that have anything to do with it? Could the ejector have anything to do with anything? I made sure I was NOT limp wristing it, I ran a few mags through my Kahr p9, no issues with that. |
