Lone wolf or storm lake?
Im not sure what one to go with...any input would be great. |
| I am looking at the lone wolf threaded in black for my 17 also the storm lake equivalent but the price is up there...almost twice as much. Now my only other thought is that I can get the SS Storm Lake standard length barrel for around as much as the threaded LW. Just not sure what one is better or will give me the best accuracy, I shoot well with the factory set up but I want more, haha. |

Quoted: I am looking for better accuracy, my G17 is going to be my primary handgun so I am putting some goodies on it to help it out. I shoot the thing great but I think it has more left with a better barrel. Take the $100 you would spend on the barrel and take a handgun class. I don't believe the accuracy gain is noticeable enough, if at all, to be worth the money. |

I like my Lone Wolf barrel but friggin hate that comical high school mascot logo BURNED into the barrel hood.... Wish they would get away from that and stamp the caliber like all the other manufacturers do and finish it nicely.... There's an option to order one where the logo isn't visible when it's installed. |

i am already planning on taking a training class, also going to try IDPA with a friend of mine. i know i shoot well but cant beat actual training, i have had the standard USMC pistol range stuff but i know that there are much better training places out there.
My G17 shoots great but I am just curious about taking it to the next level thinking a new or better barrel may help it out. Some of you guys make it sound like its not worth while to get an aftermarket barrel? |

I had two aftermarket barrels (one for an extended length barrel and one threaded for suppressor).

There are a few other reasons, mostly beneficial to reloaders.
An aftermarket barrel will have a tighter chamber, so the use of that will deform the brass less than a factory Glock barrel. The aftermarket barrels also have a different type of rifling which allows the use of lead bullets, which you are not supposed to use in the polygonal rifling of the stock barrels. | If you don't plan on reloading, or shooting bare lead, stick with the stock barrel as it's plenty accurate. Buy ammo, get more training, but extra mags, don't worry about the barrel. I've got a Lone Wolf and KKM barrel for Glocks simply because I reload with bare lead. Just got the press setup for 9mm and can't wait to put some reloads with JHPs through the stock barrel to see how it does. |
