CDNN has new glock mags listed as 4th generation. I was thinking that gen 4 were the last preban mags. AIM has them listed as "latest generation". CDNN is cheaper. What is the current correct nomenclature regarding glock mag generation Any issues using current mags in my old glock pistols? |

Currently, there are nine generations of Glock magazines.
But for simplicity, most vendors have grouped them into four generations. Gen 1 = Non-Full Metal Lined with standard mag release cut Gen 2 = Full Metal Lined with standard mag release cut Gen 3 = Full Metal Lined with standard mag release cut and ambi-mag release cut Gen 4 = Full Metal Lined with standard mag release cut, ambi-mag release cut and reversable mag release cut Currently, all new production Glock magazines are in the Gen 4 format. |

But, are 4th gen mags the latest modification? The only thing that the "4th gen" or "latest design" mags have is the mag release cutouts on both sides of the mag body to accomodate the switchable mag release button on the 4th gen pistols, other than that they are the same as previous mags IIRC. They will also work on every generation of pistol. However, older generations of mags will not work in gen 4 pistols if you swap the mag release button to the right side, if you leave the release on the left side older gen mags will work in gen 4 guns. |

Quoted: But, are 4th gen mags the latest modification? The "4th gen" is referring to the 4th gen Glock pistols. This means the mag is cut for the reversible mag release found on the gen 4 Glocks. The magazine follower generation (which is probably what you're thinking of) is higher than that. I believe 9mm mags are up to a "6." follower now. "4th gen" mag on far right: |
