First post, and first Glock! picked up a Gen3 G19 at the SAXET gun show here in Austin on Saturday. Unfortunately I have not fired it yet. My original plan was to carry a Taurus PT709 Slim but in the past month I have been getting a lot of FTF and Stove-piping on it so when I went to my CHL class I borrowed the instructors G19. I knew that if I had issues with the 709 it would just piss me off / fluster my during the test so I opted to borrow his. I fell in love after the first shot. I originally planned on picking up the G26 but after talking to a lot of people at the show they told me to just go with the G19 and that it shouldn't be that much harder to conceal than a G26.
Ordered my MTAC today so hopefully by the time my CHL comes in the mail I will be setup with a Beltman.com belt, MTAC and a G19 for EDC Anyways, Just wanted to say hi |

Congrats on your purchase. Wise choice. I carried my G19 in a CB Supertuck and loved it. I wore shorts and t-shirts almost exclusively (I miss South Carolina |

Nice choice. I just got a gen3 G19 about a month ago I like it more all the time. It really shoots well for me. I've been shooting 1911s exclusively for about the last 4 years, and was leary of all the anti-glock superstitions. Like; Bad grip angle Lousy trigger Too thick for smaller hands No soul Etc. But I've found all these claims to be pretty much bogus. I really like the trigger (surprise), and the reset is awesome IMHO. (easy to work the reset fast, even in stock trim) And this is coming from a 1911 guy, so that says something about Glock. I think the 1911 and the Glock are two of the greatest sidearms ever invented..... ....And that's the great thing, I can have BOTH! |

Thanks all for the welcome!
Still have not been able to get to the range, I am thinking of throwing it in the car for a little lunch break stress relief The guy I bought it from, current LEO / Gun shop owner on the side told me that I shouldn't clean it until I have shot at least 400 rounds through it and the 'gold grease' is no longer on the slide.. can anyone here confirm this? It goes against what I know of cleaning the gun the first thing when I get home form purchasing it... |

The gold paste is a slightly abrasive, long lasting lube that helps break in the gun while preserving small metal parts if stored in bad environments before selling. There is nothing on, or in a new Glock that needs to be removed before safe firing. Just add ammo |
The maiden voyage of my G19 when I got it, was putting almost 500 rounds of dirty Brown Bear through it. No cleaning before, during or after. I put another 300 of the same through it the next trip, and then finally decided to clean it. Not because it started acting up. But just because it was actually dirty.

That is another reason i went with the Glock.. I hear so many stories of how it fires no matter what, even when extremely dirty... I spend a lot of time on a ranch and dirt is a way of life :) |
