I have a Gen 2 Glock 17 without rails and am looking at a Replacement lower for 189.00. Question, does it matter what Gen the lower is vs the upper? Can the uppers swap without a problem? I figure the lower is much cheaper then ordering a whole new pistol.

Yes a gen 3 lower will accept your slide. A gen4 will NOT. I bet you could even trade it for a gen3 17 in the EE. Allot of guys don't run weapon lights, and your gen2 is better to ccw.. worth a try.

The perfect glock would be a Gen1 with light rail. IMO Wishful thinking I know.

Yeah Doc, they'll swap out.

I like my Gen 2, but I've cut and stippled mine.  Lots of guys like the lower without finger grooves for carry or even just for the fit.  You might just be able to work out a swap with someone.

Of course the frame is the 'firearm' so ordering a new one will have to go through your FFL.

Call glock and ask bout it.

I think someone just mentioned in another thread that glock will do it for less.

Thanks guys,

It has been ordered. I want to keep the original frame with the upper, but have the option to run a rail (Bedside gun with a TRL-1) . The Glock was the first weapon purchase I made when I turned 21, I want to keep it. I have my G19 for CCW.

I have a friend at work that has his own FFL, He charges me like 5 bucks a transfer
