Thought I would share what, in my opinion, is the perfect Glock. I started out with a new stock G19 Gen3 I purchased last December. My hands are on the small side, so I had the G19 sent off to Cold Bore Customs for a grip reduction, finger groove removal, and a texture package. They did an excellent job and the turn around time was very quick. Next, I added an extended slide release and mag release. For the trigger, I went with the Ghost Inc. 3.5 lb Ultimate Trigger. I really like this trigger. It's light, crisp, and the reset is excellent. As far as a "drop-in" trigger goes, I consider it the best.

For night sights I went with the I-DOT Pro from AmeriGlo (#GL-201). They are green Trijicon Tritium both front & rear in the figure 8 pattern. I chose this pattern due to it's very quick acquisition. The font sight has a bright orange outline that REALLY pops out in the daylight.

I've heard a lot of good reviews concerning FailZero products and I decided to contact them regarding the coating of my G19. For those of you unfamiliar with the FailZero coating process just go to their website for the best explanation. In a nutshell, it is a Nickel-Boron coating (EXO techology) that "creates a permanently lubricious surface which eliminates the need for grease, oil, or any wet lubrication for the life of the weapon". I had the following parts EXO coated: Slide, Barrel (can choose matte or mirror polish), Extractor, Ejector (running the #30274), Locking Block, and Slide Release. The EXO coating feels almost wet to the touch, especially on the barrel. Now I know I'm going to get some heat from some folks, but per FailZero instructions I do not use lube on my G19 EXCEPT for the most critical area that I did NOT get coated (I may some day)....where the Trigger Bar contacts the Connector...I put one drop of oil there...that's it. I used to work at a gun range as the Range Officer and we would rent Glocks out all day long to customers and they would see thousands of rounds between any lube. We treated them like shit (not the customers) and they ran like sewing machines. Does a Glock need any "special" coating from an outside company to make it better? Answer: Hell no it doesn't, it's perfect the way it is! But, I wanted to do it anyway, so I sent it off and I couldn't be any happier with the results.

One advantage I do see in the EXO coating is that any fouling can be simply wiped off with a paper or cotton towel. No chemicals needed. I also have my bolt carrier group on my AR EXO coated and I just wipe the fouling right off. My contact at FailZero (UCT Coatings) was Louis Rausch. Awesome guy and great customer service. He was very responsive to all my emails and phone calls and really went out of his way to make sure I was happy. I highly recommend him.

Not sure. Mine is not Talo. I've read that people have bought the Glock with the EXO coating already on there and it was from Talo. I'm not even sure you can get the special run of the Talo EXO Glocks anymore.

Are you not worried about the more visible slide as a CCW piece?  Or does this gun not see CCW duty?  Generally speaking anything silver, polished, nickel plated, etc is going to stand out if it peeks out much worse than a dark or black finish would.

I don't use it as CCW,  but I disagree with your statement since it would be covered by a shirt or coat anyway. A CCW doesn't "peak out". If it does you're doing something wrong.

$200 for everything I listed above. I'm not sure what just the slide would cost.

It has been my daily carry for 1.5 years with absolutly no sign of wear. I also use minimal oil.

No issues at all. Ive seen reports of that as well, but only on glock 22 and 23, and when over tightened. I would say ive shot about 300 rds with the tlr on.

I haven't done a deep cleaning on this G19 yet. I just wipe it with a cloth and put it back together. The bore is filthy.

That's probably the sweetest G19 you can buy. I'd love to get an opportunity to snatch one up. Only thing that would make it look even better would be if they NiB'd the pins.

In my humble and experienced opinion I have to strongly DISAGREE with this. A silver gun WILL stand out in the dark. Sometimes you draw your gun, preventively, never firing a round (it's a heck of a lot better to be griping your gun and not having to use it, than having to rush it outta your holster if you do need it, I don't care how much you train, trust me on this one). A black pistol put against dark clothes will pretty much be invisible at night, with a silver gun this doesn't work well at all. Just another guy's opinion.
I used to use this method every day (living outside Buenos Aires) when keeping an eye for any member of my family driving his-her car in-out our garage.
Neighbors across the street wouldn't even notice I was holding my G17 (at night, of course).

HTR.

ETA. I really like the sights you got on that pistola.

ETA2 for spelling

I'll agree with you on that situation, but that is a very specific situation. In that case I would have my HK P30 (solid black). We were discussing CCW under clothing, in which color doesn't matter.

I have an EXO G26 that I use for off duty carry.  I bought it when they were released from Talo a couple of years ago.  It shows almost no wear at all from daily carry.  I love the ease of cleanup, although with Glocks it's not as important.  My experience has been so good with the EXO coating that I bought a NiB coated AR bolt carrier for my duty rifle and I've been extremely pleased with it.  I then sent off my new 92A1 to WMD Guns to have the slide/barrel coated.  My 92A1, and my AR,  are suppressor hosts.  Absolutely love the stuff.

Very good.  I can't tell any difference between the two.  Both have held up just like new.  The 92A1 has more rounds thru it, and the majority have been suppressed.   The G26 has been carried much, but shot far less.

Got in contact with Louis Rausch at UCT Coatings and here's what he had to say about the TALO EXO Glocks:

"I did see a question in the trail asking if we we’re still releasing TALO EXO Glocks. The answer is no as of May/June of 2011. We released approximately 5K pistols with Talo in a mix of models (17, 19, 26, 22, 23, and 27). As you are aware, we are still offering the EXO coating services through our FZ and UCT websites."

Here is my TALO EXO Glock 19 next to it's newest stablemate the SW Shield.  The Glock came new out of the box with the Fail Zero finished slide and the Ameriglo night sights for $569 + tax.  I wish I would have bought two.  I carry it often and I love the sights.

The Glock rides in it's Kholster IWB for long periods of time without removal.

There are times when I need to go very slim and that's where the Shield comes in. It also rides in a Kholster IWB.

As long as you only finger tighten the cross bolt on the tlr, it will be fine. I have run a tlr on glocks for some time now with no issues. This was told to me by a glock armorer at a training course FWIW.
