[ARCHIVED THREAD] - New glocks???? Rumor or fact (Page 1 of 2)

| Anyone have any info on the new model glocks coming out? I hear rumors of a new 45? Any info would be great. Thanks...Bee |
No but the 30 is close...it's slightly bigger. We all wanted a 17/19/26 sized 45 but Glock didn't deliver. The frame on the G37 is the same as the G17/22 but the slide is bigger, wider. I have heard we'll see a G38 this coming year and expect it to be about the same size as the 19 but again, the slide will most likely be wider so forget about using your G19 holsters. |
I got my armorers cert. in May 04. The guy from glock that taught the class said that he had heard some rumors from within Glock that they may be testing a carbine. He said it was only a rumor at that point, and probably dependant on the popularity of the storm. Haven't heard anything since. Would really like to see a glock carbine! Dave |
I've heard this rumor too and IIRC there were several threads about it over on Glocktalk.com. I didn't follow it so I'm not sure what ever came of the rumor. |
This has been a rumor for at least 7 ot 8 years now. |
Then my memory is better than I thought if I'm remembering back 7 to 8 years! |
This saturday at the Pungo range off Marvin road, 10am. |
Don't count on a carbine from Glock anytime soon, there have been rumours of a Glock carbine for years. If anything, the G40 will be a G34/35 sized 45GAP. I don't think you'll see a carbine from Glock until they start manufacturing them in the US. |
I had been hearing Glock Carbine rumors for years as well. My armorers class was the first time I had heard of the rumors starting WITHIN Glock, not on some internet discussion group. I am cautiously hopeful. Dave |
Same here...being a 9mm fan, and Glock 17 fan, I would definately be a potential consumer of one. Since the AWB experation, and the availability of non-bastardized mags, now is the time IMHO... |

I heard the carbine talk from the glock district manager at my armorer's course in November. He was openly talking about it... and didn't mention it would be a pistol caliber... think 5.56.. He said that they had approval from Glock to talk about it... but in the end, who knows? |
| I love my glock 19 but to put it kindly, "it has a great personality". Especially compared to a 1911. I cant imagine what on earth the Glock 5.56 carbine would look like, I just hope they would make it better looking than say, a hi-point carbine. At least if Glock were to do a carbine, it would be the toughest, most ergonomical carbine ever created! |
nice pics--ugly glocks! |
Here's a Glock carbine option, and in 10mm too. Mech-Tech CCU I have one in 10mm and it runs fine. Talyn |

Best information I have at this point is that they are introducing the G19/G23 sized .45GAP (that a done deal I hear) and the .45GAP G26/G27 sized pistol. I'm hoping they introduce the pistol they are working on for the US Military trials. I've heard it's a railed, thin (single stack ala G36) verion of the G21. I've been told it wither has a mag capasity of 9 or 10 rounds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Yes there has been rumors of the "Glock Carbine". There is an industry rumor that the original design was sold to another Gun Manufacturer. At the 2004 Glock Party at the SHOT Show, Gaston made two annoincements about the future of the company . . . 1) Glock is opening a manufacturing facility in Smyrna. They will be making firearms there, not just boxes like the current facility (I would imagine that's to get around the 86 AW Ban and to meet future contractual needs of actually making the guns in the US) 2) Gaston told the crowd that the "Glock Carbine" will be a reality. He said that Glock will have the Carbine at SHOT 2006. I have heard rumor that they have the new Carbine and have passed it around for comments. It is a pistol caliber carbine from what I have heard, in 9mm, 40 "Auto" and .45 GAP. However, I have also heard that the feedback has been pretty negative with regard to the calibers. I have heard that the overwhelming comment is that it should be in .223. Realistically there is a HUGE difference desigh wise between a pistol caliber carbine and a rifle caliber carbine. So we'll see. I plan on being Johhny on the spot at the "G" SHOT booth to see exactly whats up |
rumor i got when they came out was they were initially single stack. ppk sized. ATF told em to try again. if they were made in the US on the other hand..... |
I thought Glock abandoned the US manufacture idea due to the tenifer finish hazards. ie cyanide gas byproduct and inability to meet EPA rules... I don't see Austria sleeping at the wheel on the EPA stuff, but ???? Maybe they have found a new finish or have modified it??? |
My take on it (and this was no secret to the folks I have talked too) is that "G" wants US military contracts. If you want those, you have to commit to manufacturing IN the US. There are plenty of coating and treatment that are as good as Tenifer that are EPA safe. How Bad Ass would a Oxide over DLC over Stainelss be. :D |

The new G38 and G39 .45 GAP pistols will be announced at the 2005 Shot Show. Some folks will be invited to test fire them the day before the show starts. I know one guy who already has pictures but cannot show them until after the shot show. Characteristics: G39 6 rounds (same size as the subcompact G26/27 except a heavier slide G38 8 rounds (same size as the compact G19/23 except a heavier slide G37 10 rounds (released Sep 2003, highly beveled slide to create nice lines; 3 oz heavier than G22) (all 3 models emply slimmer grips than the G30 and G21) And of course Springfield has announced the 1911 Micro and XD (4" & 5") .45 GAP models due in the Spring of 2005. |

Inspector Callahan wouldn't have nothing on that!
