Early G19's had a thinner slide lock spring that was more prone to breaking and leaving a broken off piece in the frame that even Glock Inc sometimes can't remove. I'd upgrade to the new thicker spring.

Old thin spring on the left, new thick spring on the right:

If the trigger bar is coated black, it needs the "six part upgrade". More info on that:
http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/upgrade-faq.html

If the serial number prefix is AA through EG, you have to use a so-called "pre-EH G19" trigger bar in it, and it's the only trigger bar that will work in that gun. The cruciform of that trigger bar would have a + marking on it. If the serial number is EH or after, you can use any standard Gen3 9mm trigger bar.

And of course you'd have to use two-pin slide stops with it.

Been searching for a new thicker spring and I can't find it. Looking at pics at different sites, they all show the thinner spring. Any help will be appreciated.

Besides what has already been noted, your ammo use is about to increase exponentially. Let us know when/if you get it.

Ended up missing the 2nd gen g19 , ended up getting a brand new G23 w/ 9mm & 40 barrel and a little bit of custom work. So far it's niiiice.

Now I need to figure how how to get about 2,000 rounds of 9mm cheaply :D

Too bad you missed the Gen2. Sounds like you got a good thing going with that 23 and you've got double the ammo options now.

Yeah , this one was a steal. The 2nd gen G19 I was looking at was $370 or so. For $70 more I got a brand new gun (The 2nd gen was made in '95) with a bunch of upgrades (3.5lb disconnector, extended slide release, new grips, 9mm barrel) and to boot it was brand spankin' new.

Now I feel pretty happy, a few years ago when the Rep Giffords shooting happened, everyone said they were going to ban hi-caps , I went and bought a bunch of CDNN. So , thankfully I've started off with a few g23 mags, and a bunch of glock 9mm mags.

Holy crap man! You did go and double your ammo needs. I think that you done good. The Gen 2 would be cool to own but you definately got a very nice package. Happy shooting.

One of the most stupid things I ever did was sell my Gen. 2 G19. That was 16 years ago and I still kick myself for doing that.

Good score, OP. Be sure to jump on a Gen2 G19 if it comes around again. I snagged a '96 model and it's great! I used to have a Gen3.

I think I like the Gen2 better...
