After getting my Gen 4 17, and carrying it concealed for a while, I decided to do what I figured I'd need to do the entire time, I bought a 19. I have a Gen 3 19, but after getting in to the Gen 4 mix with the 17, the Gen 3 was sold, and Gen 4 acquired, after a brief 3 day hunt for a local one, the guys over at JP Ten in Farmers Branch came through big time. (Great shop, great guy to do business with) No range report yet, will certainly put one together. My brother go a Gen 4 17, and his land owner gave him permission to set up any kind of practice range he wants on his land, so long as we don't shoot the cows. So, we're going to start making some steel targets and do some IDPA style training in his back yard. 
^ Butschers Leather holster made locally to me. $40 for the horse hide IWB holster, and $35 for the OWB pictured below. For the price, along with the lifetime, unconditional warranty, this guys work is great. Without a doubt the most comfortable, economically priced holster I've ever purchased. The OWB draws the gun nice and tight, I actually didn't have a problem carrying my 17 in it to On the Border today, it didn't print, tucked in to my side nice and tightly too.

I emailed him and set up a time to meet, but there was a guy that walked in behind us on a Saturday just looking for parts. He's in a small suite inside a business building, so he's not persay a large retail store. He said he only does this part time. His words were, he got tired of getting screwed on buying parts for guns, so opened up a location where he buys from distributors, and keeps the price as low as possible. I'd just shoot him an email asking about times and such, and what you're looking for.
If you do go out there, he's not in the big strip mall with Kroger and all the other stores in it. He's in the little building to your right as you turn in to the parking lot. |

I held one of these at the gun store today. It had the smallest back strap on it. The size and the texture felt great. Very positive grip. I didn't get to try out the medium or large back strap. My only experience up till now has been with a Gen 2 G22 duty weapon I carried years ago. I was surprised how well the G19 grip fit my hand. I don't even think I would have to add a beavertail or have the grip reduced. |
