hey all,

I recently came into a Glock 17 and love it. It came with extended controls, and 3.5lb trigger, and upgraded sights. I liked this so much I went and traded my PK 380 for a G19. It is bone stock and I would like to bring it up to speed like my G17.

I have been looking at different trigger kits and sights but I really dont know what companies are good to go for Glocks or not. I have been searching through posts and pic threads but I want the low down on what sights for CCW (preferably night sights or at least a FO front sight). Also what drop in trigger kits are on point for my needs as a carry pistol. Finally, what all do I need for the extended controls and is there a place to just get a kit that is all inclusive or will I have to get them one by one?

Thanks gents!

Hey hope I can help.

My opinion on a ccw trigger is leave it stock maybe throw in a 4.5 connector other than that just shoot it a lot and that will improve the trigger feel.  I have about 5-6k through one of my 17s and the trigger feels so much smoother than my new 17 both are gen 3.

The sights should be night sights 80% of all self defense shooting happen at night.  Try Trijicon Tough and Bright night sights or Meprolight.  they are both top quality.

Extended controls are a preference.  Get some and try them for awhile if you don't like them just go back to stock controls.  I use an extend mag release but not an extended slide stop.  Just my preference.

Just my o2

First off, congrats and welcome to the GLOCK fam!

I have no recommendations as to how to configure a carry pistol as this is very subjective.

However, as far as extended controls and trigger parts go, I personally like to stick with GLOCK manufactured parts and purchase them from these guys.

Hope that helps a little.

I don`t do a thing to a glock trigger. I modded and tweaked them, now all three of my glocks are back to stock trigger.
Works just fine for me as it is and i don`t want anything to come up in court about it. YMMV
I also have used extended controls, only to take them out. At times, the longer slide release would get pushed by
my hand and lock the slide back unexpectedly. Its one more thing that can go wrong for me at a tense time.
I drop the slide forward to chamber a round with my left hand. And i have long thumbs, so i can reach the mag latch.

I really like the Truglo TFO sights, yellow in back, green in front. $110. easy to put on.
The last few years, I have pushed toward simple and consistent. This is what works for me.

thanks

ETA, I forgot tho mention those things called Grip Force Multipliers, actually they are a clip on beavertail. I like em cause
i have a large hand, and the G19 slide sometimes bits the web. Also, the added thickness changes the angle of the trigger
finger for the better.  Other than that, bone stock.

looking at these, what is the difference in the 6.5mm and 6.9mm as far as performance on the gun is concerned?

I really like my Glocks, but I really hate all the Glock trigger connectors.  I use aftermarket connectors in my Glocks.  I don't use extended controls.  I do polish all mating surfaces in the firing mechanism.  My Glocks' triggers pull from just over 3# to just under 4#.

Just about anything you need for your Glock can be had at Lonewolf Distributors.

If you want night sights that you can install without a sight pusher, check out Ameriglos.  They offer some of their sets that don't require a pusher.  They include a front sight tool with their sights.

I do

  • 3.5 connector

  • extended SS

and that's it, not even trigger spring.  I take other people's stock trigger springs when they upgrade for my spare parts kit, because those seem to break once every 25,000 rounds or so.

I use a dot connector, Vickers extended mag release, Vickers extended slide stop, Ameriglo Hackathorn GL433's. I see no reason to really work a Glock trigger, IMHO its great right out of the box,

The GL433's

G19 RTF2 with the above mods.
