I forgot how comfortable the largest of the Glocks are to shoot. I have a 20SF that was sitting in my safe while I was deployed. I finally got a chance to put some rounds through it this weekend and was reminded of what great shooters they are.
Putting some rounds over the chrono and I was pleasantly surprised with the factory Hornady 155g XTPs, clocking between 1369 and 1379 (655 ft/lbs) from the factory barrel with pretty easy recoil. Next up were some handloaded 155g GDHPs over various charges of IMR 800X. Velocity ranged from 1350 with my lightest loads up to 1460 (734 ft/lbs) for the heaviest charges I had loaded. I had no adverse pressure signs, even with the OEM barrel/recoil spring, and was still below the max published load for this combo. Accuracy was excellent with all 800X combos. Ended the day by punishing myself with some Grizzly 405g +Ps in 45-70 through my Marlin 1895GS Guide Gun. Sorry for the ramble! |

I love my G20s. Slowly building the longslide version of one that COSteve has posted about. I'd like to put together a long slide too. I'll probably buy the 6" barrel first so I can use it right away. That 1460fps load out of the 6" should easily clear 1500 fps. |
| I really enjoy shooting both my G20 and G29. I don't have any interest in a 6" barrel, though, as I just can't think of any application where I might need 50fps or so more. I just loaded up a bunch of 180s and plan to do some shooting at our local range next week. |

1. Welcome back to the world (another Christmas/New Year's in Kandahar, here).
2. I have an old (non-SF) G20 and it's 2nd only to my 1911. 3. Thanks for the load info; at least those 155grs are robust; I often wonder if any of the factory loads even approach the 10mm's potential. 4. As for the Marlin, for some inexplicable reason, I want a 45-70 lever gun; I'd settle for .30-30 but something about 45-70 intrigues me. |

The Glock 20SF is my dedicated woods gun. Love it! Yea I'm pretty sure a 20sf will be my next purchase for the same reason. put me down for that too! Yep. Love my 29sf...the 20c isn't quite as comfy for me. I see a G20sf in my immediate future. |

A 405 at 1200fps is pretty gentle on the shoulder while punching a nice hole through a deer. It drops fast so close is better (<100), but you have absolutely NO ruined meat. The Hornady LeverEvolution loads with the 325 grain ballistic tips are excellent factory ammo that's priced at about 1.50 a shot and shoot quite a bit flatter. Can load that same 405 up to 2000+ FPS and comfortably take anything in North America. I cast/load my own for under a dime per shot. |

Now, I am surprised that the factory hornady 155gr runs that fast. I have some cor bon 165 that I shot out of mine the other day, and the recoil didnt seem too bad. It is rated at 1250. I bought a dillon squared deal b and plan to start loading the 10mm very soon. I want to push the rounds to around 1400 or so myself. I'm thinking of getting a 6in from KKM so I can make some really nice loads for shooting deer and pigs. Do you think the brass did ok because you used the stock spring? 1460 is pretty good out of a stock barrel. That's about the speed of the rounds that Mike made at Swamp Fox ETA: I just shot my 20sf the other day after having owned it for 3 months. I shot some 180fmj and some of the corbon. I did my best to collect all of the brass, but lost one. The gun shot really nice. I love the 10mm. I also have a g26 for a BUG and it shot like doodee. I'm thinking of selling the g26. I carry the g20sf every day. |
