| hey all, im on the market for a glock for conceal carry. im looking at 23,27, 30, or 36. i havent yet held any of them but just lookin for suggestions. i have pretty big hands with long fingers so im interested in seeing how the sub compacts would feel in my hands. thanks in advance |

Get a 9mm - G26, G19 or G17.
If you've got big hands and are a big guy that can conceal it, the G17 makes sense. If you're normal size, get the G19. (This is why the G19 tends to be the THE iconic CCW pistol) If you have tiny hands / small body, get the G26. Rob Pincus makes some good points on 9mm in this article The 4th Generation pistols have not yet (to my mind) proven themselves to be reliable enough. |

I also carry it every day and never even notice its there anymore. Also more power then both 9mm and .40 cal..Just a suggestion. I know you didn't mention it but its always an option, and the best one at that in my mind. |

Quoted: great info guys, just one more question, can anyone tell me some pros and cons of the 29? how come that wasnt mentioned? i like the idea of 10mm, is that ammo pretty available, or is it real expensive? expensive and hard to find. I wouldn't suggest 10mm as your main carry unless you reload. Then I think you need an after-market barrel. |

The G26 grip is the same as the G19, but just not as long. It can be made as long, using a G19 mag and an A&G sleeve. I have large hands. Shoot G21s and G20s comfortably. Carry a G26 daily. Shoot a G17 @ the range a lot. The trigger guard undercut goes up higher on the 26/27 than the 19/23. My fat knuckles can tell. |

My Gen4 G17 has been 100% besides the known issue with the new extractors cropped up around 2000 rounds. Replaced with a LWD extractor and have had no problems in the 4000 rounds since. The G26 was always a double sprung so I don't imagine it should have any issues that the Gen3 doesn't. |

Holds more ammo, in a smaller package, and can take 17rd 10MM mags. (15with a +2installed) |

I just went through this process myself. I compared the Glock 30 and 36. Depending on your hand size, one or the other will feel better. I ended up opting for the 36. 45acp is relatively cheap and easy to find. The recoil in the 36 is really pleasant. I can shoot about a 100 - 150 rounds before I'm tired. The 357 Sig subcompact is pretty violent in terms of recoil. I haven't shot the 10mm version. If it is anything like tthe 40s&w, the recoil will snap hard.
357 Sig is a bitch to reload for. Your prep is like rifle rounds. You have to trim the cases and they're typically only good for 3 - 5 reloads. 10mm is excellent for reloading. 45, 9mm, 10mm, 40s&w are easy to reload. Brass is expensive for tthe 10mm and rare to find. |
