I have a G22 which I would like to convert to 9mm, so all I need is to change out the barrel with that from a standard G17 barrel?
Thats it? |
| It's possible to use a G17 barrel in a G22, a buddy did it with his and I've put some ammo through it. It would hit a 10"x10" plate at 15yards consistently, but I never tried to shoot groups with it. It can be done, but if you're going to buy a barrel I would suggest buying a conversion barrel to minimize issues. There are several conversion threads going with details. |

I did this once, and i locked the gun up. took me 2 hours to take it back apart. use a conversion barrel.

Go on gunbroker and get a "conversion kit" Basically the slide, barrel, and guide rod off of the other caliber gun. Works with 21/20's, 26/27's, 19/23's Guide rods between 40 and 9 are the same. If you're so worried about the extractor as to buy an entire slide, you should change the ejector out too. I have 2 9mm conversion barrels, one for my G22 and one for my G23. All I change is the barrel and mags. |

The conversions already come with the rod, and a mag. The ones i have seen all use the same ejectors. They are stamped with the same numbers on them. The ejector is in the frame, more specifically the trigger mechanism housing. There is most definitely a difference between the 40 and 9. |
