I know there were a few "teething issues" early on with the new Gen 4 Glock 17. Have they worked through those now?
Thanks ! |

Yeah they work fine once they have the new Gen4 9mm ejector installed. The new ejector compensates for the fact that the extractor isn't holding the empty casing to the breech face but instead letting the casing drop to the level of the magazine before the ejector hits it.
The new Gen4 9mm ejector has the numbers "30274" stamped on it, here are some pictures of it: http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17921092&postcount=15 http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1371946 So far I've only heard of one Gen4 that already had the new ejector installed when it was purchased new, so it might be a few months before most of the Gen4's you see in gun stores have the new ejector. Currently if you buy a Gen4 9mm or .40 and it ejects erratically you can call Glock and tell them, ask them to install the new Gen4 ejector in your gun. They'll tell you to send it in to them so they can install it. They usually offer a prepaid shipping label but if they don't you should ask for one. You should get the gun back in a few weeks and it should eject properly, everyone who's gotten it so far says they haven't had a single erratic ejection since getting the new ejector. If you send your gun to Glock be sure to remove any aftermarket parts besides the sights and replace them with factory parts before sending it. Some recent production Gen3's have the same problem but Glock is currently not installing the new ejector into them. So if you're like me and you have a recent production Gen3 that ejects erratically you have to fix it yourself. I'm waiting for the newest Gen4 trigger housings with the new ejector to be sold by online retailers, I'm going to take the new ejector out of that trigger housing and put it into the Gen3 trigger housing for my Gen3 G27. |
