I just picked up a new Glock 17, 3rd gen. Took it to the range yesterday with a couple hundred rounds of BVAC once fired 115gr Fmj's. I swear I couldn't get through 2 magazines without a FTF problem, even after taking it apart for a closer look (nothing out of the norm) & lubing it up a little, not a lot.
I wasn't aware of any problems with new glocks, or glocks in general. I was using new factory magazines, and have had pretty good luck with Bvac for my AR. I picked up 100 rounds of Walmart special winchester to try to narrow down the problem between the ammo or the gun. Anyone hear of this before? Thanks. |

Failure to feed or failure to fire? Either could be caused by using remanufactured(aka reloaded) ammo. Try some factory new ammo and you shouldn't have the same problem.
If it's failure to feed with the BVAC it's likely that the cases were not resized properly. If it's failure to fire it could be the same issue or it could be that the primers weren't fully seated. |

thats a really good point with the bvac, its funny I never had problems with their .223. It was failure to feed. I started inspecting the bullets more, before and after ftf's and they looked fine to the naked eye. And they all fired fine the second time around.
I put this on another site as well, this is some additional info they asked about. I will try bench resting to rule it out limp wristing. I will take a picture tomorrow, I know I know I was so shocked it was happening I didn't think about a pic. It seems like for the most part it failed to go into battery. The bullet was always in or going into the chamber, never up or down, It didn't look like it ever double fed, believe I had a FTE as well. The mags are "Glock", one new with the purchase and 2 new from a reputable calgunner. 10 rounds in each mag, each time, and it happened on all 3 mags. I previously had a G21sf and never had problems. As far as lube, no I didn't initiallty lube it since it has the factory fancy pants stuff. But after I started being concerned I broke it apart and oiled it, but not overly oiled. I'll update tomorrow with more info and pics. I'm trying some walmart federal in the morning. |

Oh sorry I didn't pay attention to the fact that you were in California. Some of the 10 round 9mm magazines can give you failures to feed, it's the followers. A possible solution is to use 9mm3 followers, but that doesn't always work.
Try it with factory ammo first, if it still happens then try using some 9mm3 followers in your 10-round magazines. If that doesn't fix it then call Glock, though I don't know how much Glock would be able to help you because they can't ship magazines or magazine parts to CA. They'd probably tell you to go to one of their Glock Stocking Dealers somewhere near you. Glock's new extractors are cheap too, so you could have an out-of-spec (tight) extractor. |

All with 10 rounds in mag, I saved the 2 FTF rounds and will test them in the barrel. I contacted BVAC and they are talking to their bosses, so we will see how they back up their product. I think proforce is a good deal, and it was a fluke with the selling my mags, havent had other problems with them. Bvac seems concerned, so i'll update how they are with costumer service. Conclusion: for a extra $5 I'll walk out of walmart with the ammo in hand...and I did, $215 for 1K rounds. Oh and to settle the debate on limp wristing, I always shoot like this. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y293/mikemaccham/34ab1a48.jpg my bad What, no umbrella in the drink? pfft |
