With all the Glock .22 conversion kits I wonder why glock does not just make a .22 version? Does anyone know why they don't?

No, I don't know why. What I DO know, is that I would go to my gunshop and buy one inmediately if they did  !

HTR.

I'd like to see a super thin Glock in .22lr while still getting a double stack mag, and a full size that holds like 75 rounds in a regular magazine. I'm a Glock fan as well among other brands.

IIRC there are rules reguarding the import of firearms that are below 9mm caliber(.380 and smaller), glock would fall into them and have to do stuff significantly modify the firing mechanism to allow import.

10-15 rounds of .22 is about the max you'll ever see in a standard pistol mag, due to the rimmed case and stacking problems once you get up above 15ish or so.  Look at how steep of a curve 30 round .22 mags are for guns like the Ruger 10/22.  You can't get that sort of curve in the magwell of a pistol.

He's talking about the ATF Factoring Criteria for imported handguns.

Interesting, thanks.  I'd never seen that before.  Of course, Glocks fail that test completely, as they do not have a manually operated safety –– so how are they imported at all?

Can glock make them here in the States, instead of importing?

I know I would buy 1 or 2 or 3 if they made them.  That's for sure.  But if it's a gen4 design I would have to see one run first.

Why does Glock not make a ...

.22LR?
Single stack 9mm or .40 S&W?
A pistol caliber carbine?
"insert your dream item here"?

Nobody has a friggen clue why? People speculate all the time but you'll probably never know the real answer. Here's my speculation...

I've heard it stated that Glock is ruled with an iron fist by Gaston just like Bill Ruger use to run Ruger. If you can't convince the big man that there is a major need or desire for a new item then it doesn't happen. Seems that if the Military or Police aren't screaming for it then Gaston isn't interested. Chance are Glock fans will have to wait for Gaston's death before we get anything truly new just like Ruger fans had to wait for Bill death?

That's a popular theory but its complete bullshit. If S&W can import the Walther P22 and Beretta and CZ can import their rimfires pistols then so can Glock. The import limitation is the same excuse as to why Glock doesn't make any compact or sub-compact single stack 9mm's but yet S&W imports Walther's PPS no problem.

I'd like a polymer 1911 from Glock.

Then why wouldnt Glock sell the 380 in the states ?

I would be all over a factory Glock 22 conversion.  That thing would sell like crazy.

Beats the fuck out of me? I know it's been blamed on the import laws but if everybody else can work around them then I don't see why Glock can't?

I agree on both points. Single stack 9mm and .40 compacts and sub-compacts as well as PCC's would sell like crazy too but Glock doesn't seem to care?
