I saw a few Youtube videos on installing extended slide catch and mag releases, and I guess I kinda got that itch to modify my guns when I realized how easy they were to change out, easier than I thought, but I also don't want to fix something that ain't broke, ya know?
I have a 19 and a 26. Both get carried in Pitbull Tactical kydex, depending on clothing and level of concealment needed. If I do the swaps on one, I would probably want to do them on both, just to make things consistent on the controls. I know there are folks who do and don't subscribe to the thought that you shouldn't put a bunch of aftermarket parts on carry guns for reliability reasons. Another question I had was will an extended mag release cause a problem with my IWB kydex holsters. Don't want my mags dropping accidentally. Thoughts, opinions, ideas? I figure the parts are cheap, worst case scenario is they don't work for me and I go back to stock. Just tossing ideas around. |

I'm a big fan of it ain't broke don't fix it.
Often times I've fixed broken things by replacing the aftermarket junk with factory parts, guns, motorcycles, cars, etc. It kills me to see people buy expensive hoo ha junk they don't need, and then wonder why it doesnt work right. It keep marketing execs happy, I guess. Particularly with a defensive weapon, I'm not going to change anything that is working fine. Spend your money on mags an ammo instead. |
| My only experience with them is with my G35 (came with them installed), but I'm not a fan of the extended controls. The extended mag catch dug into my middle finger (I'm left handed) and the extrended slide release makes no difference for me because I use the "sling shot" method to release the slide. |
