I am going to be purchasing a Glock 23 and would like to know some feedback on the gun. It could be a gen 4 or gen 3 my local has a couple but didn't give good info over the phone.
i have heard that they are having problems with the springs on the gen 4 17 and wanted to know if that is a concern with the gen 4 23.

The issues with the recoil springs has been contained to the 9mm versions, supposedly due to being "oversprung" or as a lot of others <And I think Glock> have said, weak ammo. So you should be good to go in that regard with a Gen 4 G23. According to several others, the Gen 4 variant feels a bit less "snappy" as compared to the Gen 3 variant as well.

I personally run a Gen 3 G23 and absolutely love it. You can't go wrong with it. However if you don't have much experience with the .40 round, best advice is to shoot the gun you want to buy to see if you like it or not. If you're a seasoned pro, then disregard what I say and enjoy your new pistol.

Not a pro but thank you for the info i have done my research and i went with the Glock felt the best. I however I am downgrading from a 45 to the 40 cal. more ammo and less bulk.

Well I'm wanting a G23 also......I've got the G22 and G27 already, both Gen 3's.  Heard the same thing about the Gen 4's as you have.....going to stick with the Gen3 models.  I've got both my 22/27 with NS and shipping included for $425 each.  Shopping around for the G23 now.  The only reason for the 23 is I don't have one and it takes the same mags.  I stocked up on G22 mags sometime ago.

Good luck with your search!

The gen4 .40s are doing great.

Buy the one that fits your hand best.

If you like the smaller grip of the Gen4, need the larger grip they offer or prefer the updated mag release, get it. If the standard gen3 grip works for you, go gen3.

The Gen4s cost a little more usually but you get an extra magazine so it really comes down to which one YOU prefer, they both will be very reliable.
