I know purists will get upset over this posting but...
Since Glocks have been around for well over 25 years, their patent has expired. So it is my understanding that Glocks knock-offs can legally be manufactured and sold (I'm not a lawyer but that's how I understand it). I'm talking about identical copies that take identical magazines, but made by someone else, domestic or not. Know of any? After all Rock Island Armory makes some mighty fine 1911 knockoffs. Many small shops make excellent AR15s. The Chinese make decent 870 copies. Glock has had 25 years to milk his invention and sell for over $500 a gun that costs $75 to make. Got access to a CNC mill and Solidworks? Get to work! |

Yeah except in 9mm |

The original S&W Sigma, Walther PPS, and Ruger SR9 & 9C come to mind. I've never owned most of those, but the 9c and I assume SR9 are really nothing like a glock, except that they go bang. Look at page 26 of the owner's manual and you will see that the innards of the receiver that make it go bang are very much like Glocks. Ghost make a connector for it that is very much like a Glock connector. |

Quoted: I have both in front of me. They are blatantly not copies. Nothing on the glock was a new idea when it was released either. It's a start, although I have no reason to look past my G19. |

I thought patents were good for 100 years. ![]() Actually it's 20 years |

I don't disagree, but its common in this industry. Almost every bolt gun is a cop of a Mauser. There are only so many ways to make a Revolver. There are only so many ways to make a semi. Personally speaking, there are so many good designs out there that I don't want a brand new design. |
