does a comped barrel make much difference on a 9mm? My dad is buying a Glock 34 and is thinking about a comped barrel for it and maybe a G19C to got with it...

I don't like comped barrels in the 19 at all. The 34? Posibly but you would get more control with proper training than the comp provides.

I don't see it making much difference unless you're shooting some +p+/uspsa major style loads. Maybe a mild velocity loss though?

I had a G19C, I traded it for a G19.

In short, don't do it. It doesn't make much, if any, difference, and the drawbacks are numerous.

Muzzle blast in your face, burnt powder in your face, flash (yes, it does flash through the ports), etc etc.

Avoid the C models!
